Wait so is the version for the 787 and 747-8 interchangeable? That would make it so if you flew both you would only need one type of spare parts, which would be pretty cool.

To start up the engine, you need bleed air for pneumatic starter. This can be obtained using APU or external air from ground source. Pneumatic starter then turns hi pressure compressor shaft which is connected to hi pressure turbine via engine gearbox. This is done because this shaft has lower mass and it is easier to spin up from zero rpm. When starter spins this shaft to certain rpm, it cuts of from gearbox, and then engine electronic unit is starting to supply combustion chamber with fuel. Because high pressure compressor is rotating, the air is compressed, and becomes hot, and because it's hot, in combination with fuel, combustion process begins. Hot exhaust gasses from combustion chamber goes out and turn high pressure turbine which turns high pressure compressor. When exhaust gases pass hi pressure turbine, they also pass threw low pressure turbine which spins low pressure compressor and fan in front of the engine.

It is just like a 'DHAKKA START' in car.. A small electric motor to give initial 'PUSH'. I think, it is termed as 'Axillary Power Unit' (APU) If you see, in initial days of flying era, people used to manually rotate the fan blades in order to start the engine! :)

The turbine, which is placed at the back of the engine to the rear of the Combustion chamber is connected to the Fan at the front exhaust gasses rotate the turbine turning the fan, Initial start up of the engine requires a motor to spin the fan up to 10,000 RPM.

I understood everything about a planes engine from compression to ignition except one thing, what makes the fan which sucks in air spin so that air is sucked in? Could you tell me?
