I agree that there are people in this world who make money in highly unjust ways. I agree that there are people who lose money in very unfair circumstances.

What I fail to understand is why any of the people commenting think they can count other people's money and judge them based on how much they have. People who can really afford these apartments are not necessarily evil. Those with "poor person" mentality demonize them because they have no idea how to get to where the rich are. You hate the rich because you're scared of them, as they're playing a game that's unattainable to you.

Most of the people who buy these apartments do not steal from the people, they do not leave them with no jobs, money, and homes. They just create successful businesses. If anything, they create jobs, they pay money to their employees. Oftentimes, the homeless should look for the reason they are homeless in their own or their families' poor life decisions.

Again, I am not saying any of the extremes is universal. Also, I am not talking about those who are born into the wealth their ancestors have built up for them.

It's not all black and white. Not all rich are evil. Not all poor people are victims of the rich. Generally, people are able to create and destroy wealth by making choices for their lives. Exercising or withdrawing control over your own existence is what makes you or breaks you.

The biggest conversations right now are a smoke screen. The rich/poor separation is the only real separation that means anything. They’ll manipulate the everything to keep your attention off of that. The middle class is being eliminated as we speak.

The most moving comment in the whole video was about the empty buildings also casting huge shadows, taking away more from the city than just sitting empty

You remind me of myself, I looked at all the European real estate, and since I'm a refugee with poor English pretending to be a millionaire, it's really difficult. It hit me like that when I had a fake friend who cheated me out of big money.

Billionaires are not the 1% of the 1%. In the US, they represent two-point-two ten-thousandths of the total population. They are the 2.2% of the 1%-of-the-1%.

That's not Real Estate. More like Lease Estate. It's not like you get to own the building and he land it sits on for these outrageous prices. On top of the price tag you have to pay luxury taxes, building maintenance and staff fees, and property taxes. These are relatively small boxes inside a really large concrete, steel, and glass box. You get a view consisting of concrete, steel, and glass boxes in different shapes and sizes, more concrete, asphalt, some cold polluted water, and some trees in a park off in the distance Instead of being able to see the twinkling stars in the heavens above, you get flashing/blinking lights, and headlights from cars at night. Puke. $85 Million to have a floor to ceiling view of a dirty city? What a waste.
Oprah recently acquired roughly 850 acres on Maui for about $6.6 Million. For an eighth of that $85 Million you could have a mansion on hundreds of acres of actual real estate someplace truly beautiful and serene with your own gym, pool, spa, jacuzzi, movie theater, home theater, 10 car garage, barn, hangar, whatevs. You could set up your real property so you wouldn't have to rely on the energy grid, or have to worry about where your food and water are coming from. You could have enough space for your kids to run around and play without having to worry about them getting by cars, or getting snatched by someone with bad intentions.
For $85 Million you could be free. Like actually free. Why would anyone with a soul, a sound conscience, and a properly working mind ever want to spend ridiculous sums of money on what amounts to be a prison cell in the Matrix? I've never had that kind of money so I guess I just don't what's that's all about. I could F around and have that sort of wealth one day, but I still wouldn't even want to find to find out what that life's all about.

The idea that the empty luxury buildings are creating shadows all over the city.. it's almost like they are evil spires that steal the light from the peasants below.

23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Matthew 19: 23-24 KJV

Working with very wealthy people, I have learned that the very wealthy are usually quiet, polite but dismissive. Poor people pretending to be rich try way too hard and focus too much on things (shoes, bags, cars etc.) to look rich. The very wealthy aren't screaming look at me but expect to be quietly but completely catered to.

This is atrocious. I live in Austin, wealthy out of staters have been coming in and directly raising the cost of housing to the point where it’s almost impossible for a normal person to live here. They’ve added so many new sky scrapers to the city’s sky line and without looking I just know they’re million dollar little condos and exclusive rooftop events that people like me (born and raised) will never have the Opportunity to see.

Nothing is more disheartening than people using your home as an investment and taking it for granted. I always hear how “LA was so much better” “this is just discount New York” they say as people’s taxes are pricing them out of their homes because they’re just so valuable to these out of staters. There’s not enough housing for everyone now. Even if we sold there’s nowhere to go where we could afford the taxes.

I just grew up thinking if I left my home it would be my own choice. But tech companies, realty companies, and our government have decided for us.
