The Steph v AI debate immediately got away from the original question of whether AI would have won as many championships with the warriors as Steph.
The team that they put around Steph was designed to complement his skillset, as was the team they put around AI. People say that AI didn’t win because of the team around him, but it was that kind of team that allowed him to be AI. They played really good defense and let him have the ball all the time and take as many shots as he wanted. AI was not trying to shoot from 40ft, or move without the ball, so he wouldn’t have fit with the warriors. One of Steph’s best attributes is his ability to play well with other superstars, which is why he has been able to win so much. Also, AI’s prime just wasn’t long enough to win Steph’s 4 chips. By age 34 Steph was winning finals mvp, AI wasn’t the same guy by that age. Steph plays in a system, where AI, much like LeBron, IS the system. And at just 6ft tall, he just wasn’t big enough for that to be a championship formula I think.
