Spoon Carving: Tools, Techniques and Tips for Carving a Spoon

I have YET to find anyone who can show how to sharpen a hook knife. I thought we were about to see the process with this guy and he, like everyone else, goes to the straight knife. Irritating!

I'm not an expert carver (more of a shade-tree guitar tech...) but this was very helpful for my understanding of hand-carving.

What food safe wood is easy to spoon carve
