I wish I had been able to take this in live. When Compass Box decided to revamp their mashbill for Peat Monster and 'simplify' it I immediately went searching for the older "brown label' and did manage to find a bottle (on sale no less). I like the colour label art but I can't drink the label....it is a true gem and I will probably always have a bottle on my shelf. Craigellachie 13 was a pleasant surprise when I tried it at our local pub and I look forward to opening my bottle of it. Great live as usual. Looking forward to Sunday.
ОтветитьPhil, you worked on Life of Pi???? Fantastic movie. I've watched it at least 3.14159 times and will watch it again for sure!! ;)
ОтветитьInteresting idea for a video. Enjoyed immensley. Good job P & D!
Ответитьvery interesting results - maybe I will have do something similiar in German soon
ОтветитьP & D , that was a wizard of a tasting idea , and looks like you had fun doing it and was good to see the results !
ОтветитьOh I love this concept. VERY interesting to see you two work through these. Also thanks for the shout-out Deepa! You did guess it first too, so I'm happy to share this one with you :) cheers!
ОтветитьThe Neck Pour is real! My very first impression of Deanston based on the neck pour was what is the big deal? After a month or so, it is now one of my favorites. There is a big difference. Whisky rewards patience!
ОтветитьI was watching this while having really small sips of Glen Scotia 15, Benromach 10 and lastly Ardbeg 10. And the more peat the more I liked it. Im forever a slave to peat I guess. I would love to love that Glen Scotia 15, Deanston 12, Craigellachie 13, Arran 14 (another one that Roy likes). But once I pour the heavy peat, I enjoy it so much more... :) Though at least Kilkerran 12 made it to my top 5. And that one is only... Well, medium peat. :) But perhaps there is still hope for me. I never was really into whisky. And then I tried Laphroaig and later that damned Ardbeg. Through Kilkerran I might start to love even lower amounts of peat. Clynelish 14 for example I also like. And that one is only lightly peated. :)
ОтветитьReally great idea! Love the concept, am surprised about the result, though!
ОтветитьI have that same Compass Box that you do, and it's amazing. Funny thing is we have a liquor store were I live in BC that just brought in 6 bottles of the old one that was collecting dust in the distribution center, I think I'm going to go get 2 more of this good one., Great show sorry I missed the live.
ОтветитьGreat video! I’ve had a few whiskeys that I was disappointed in at first only to fall in love with them later. Very interesting results as you seemed to favor the older ones but not by much. I wonder if my perception of a large gap between the two was driven more by expectations. I’m going to try the same experiment next time and see if I notice a large gap when they are side by side.
ОтветитьHi I’ve got a choice of Islay Barley 09 or 10. Have u tried, and which should I get.
ОтветитьAm sorry that I couldn't watch this video earlier but it is what I talked about before Phil and Deepa, there is a big difference in the same whiskies when you use different criteria. My experience for instance is that very often whiskies are disapointing when you just opened a bottle, but when you leave the opened bottle rest for some time and get back to it later it starts to grow on you……..this video is therefore very educating...……….so thumbs up from me!
ОтветитьLol! Black art in the naughty corner. Touché. Favorite part of the video right there.
