I'm wondering where to find a mill near the Raleigh- Durham area? Thanks for the idea
ОтветитьI LOVE our mill. We feed slightly over 1,000 lbs of feed every month here and costs average $200+ and it's amazing quality. The pigs eat mostly free. So glad you're spreading the word about mills because so many new to animals aren't away they can cut out the middle man. Pocket books benefit and so does animals health because I've never experienced a mill with sub par quality feed. Big box store feed bags sit FOREVER till they get to the animals.
ОтветитьWe don't have a mill here * North pole* but, we have a coop in the next town over You can buy feed much cheaper, a pallet with 500 lbs. is the best price. The only thing is its 3 hours round trip lol
ОтветитьFree ranged chickens! I’m guessing the eggs are great. Great little cart there. Great that you are close to a mill. We are not....We have a feed Co-op!
ОтветитьOur closest mill burned last month😕
ОтветитьIncredibly detailed. Thank you for the info!!!
ОтветитьAnother great video. Your info is greatly appreciated.
ОтветитьI just found your channel, great content! I’m in the early stages of homesteading, have 10 hens and just finished my first round (5) of meat birds. Learning about composting and getting serious about gardening. I want to get a couple of pigs next year but the wife doesn’t want them, but she didn’t want the chickens or ducks either so I hope she’ll come around on the pigs. I definitely appreciate people like you that are willing to share your experiences with complete strangers like me!
ОтветитьI love to buy from my local feed store and I do have to buy from our Tractor Supply occasionally but I would much rather get my feed from the family feed store and support them plus it's cheaper and I usually get feed that is dated only a few days old! Super fresh!
ОтветитьThank you, I didn't consider a grain mill, that's a huge savings. We are learning lots of new skills and ways to improve our homestead. 💛👍👍💙🐔🐔🐔
ОтветитьHi , I see your video , it’s incredible what you are paying for the food , I’m in Florida, just butcher 30 meat chicken , I bought 13 bags 50lbs each , for them in 8 weeks
But the price for each was $41 , very expensive, I wish I will find a mill and pay what you pay
The content is very helpful………but, the two locations operate on two different levels, one being more in a retail world which comes with different overheads than a bulk supplier, so price comparing is not a true form based on that. Excellent that’s you have a bulk supplier locally that does small volumes, many people probably don’t have that opportunity. I think its very generous that you happily pass on your operating costs and experiences, thank you.
ОтветитьExtremely interesting.
The smell you mentioned might be the plastic bags used are leaching smells. Also a little fermentation might be going on.
I thought you might like to consider this
Thank you fella!
I also will save on feed by fermenting chicken feed. The feed will double in size, cutting cost in half. Plus my hens love it.
ОтветитьThank you for the information
ОтветитьHow can you locate your local mill at your state? Thanks!
Ответитьdo these mill not have websites?? nothing on google or facebook.
ОтветитьIf you ferment your feed with water do a daily mix your feed will double in size and your animals will love it. Just another helpful way you to save money on feed some say to let sit for two to three days I highly recommend you only let sit for 24 hours drain excess water then feed.
ОтветитьThe reason its going up, is shipping is more expensive because of being understaffed and with the rampant money printing. This is nothing yet, the world is going to go thru hyper inflation soon.
ОтветитьChia is better than flax for people
ОтветитьMy goal is to grow my feed, thats the best way to save money.
ОтветитьI have a mill right in my town SUPER close. Best place to get everything
ОтветитьThanks for the info and i wish the best for your channel and homestead. Good job with the video. I see a nice tractor in your future soon!
ОтветитьYou mentioned sales tax on animal feed. I was
wondering what state you live in? Here in Texas we don’t get charged tax on animal feed.
We have a feed store that we always get our feed from as well, we pay $18.50 CAD for 25kgs of layer feed, which is 55lb. We also have a tsc that sells feed and there it's $20.50 per bag
ОтветитьRural king is way cheaper than tractor supply.
ОтветитьCheck RURAL KING prices, they arnt far from mill prices at all... ill support them
ОтветитьMill the same as the coop?
ОтветитьI pay 31$ for 50lb now
ОтветитьThat's really good information I never thought of that LOL don't know why. Another good idea for saving money on your feed is sell your extra eggs and invested all back into food for the chickens. Sometimes our chickens don't cost us anything. Thanks for the information great video
ОтветитьThat’s really odd. Our Tractor Supply has much better prices even now with inflation. I buy really nice Nutrena chicken feed for $17. And if you buy 20 bags you get 5% off. I feed my goats 12% sweet feed. Currently up to $10, a year ago It was $8. I’ve done our feed mill before, and it was not cheaper at all. I guess shop around!
