Here's my rejected video offering to the American Ninja Warrior Gods. Do I mind not getting selected? Yes . . . and no.

Yes, because I work hard and train daily and really enjoy the show and the fitness that comes with the show, and it's always nice to be rewarded and recognized for one's effort.

On the other hand, it's a TV show and LOTS of factors play a role that are totally out of my control, so in that spirit, they're gonna pick people who, in their opinion, are best suited for the show--and that is NOT always based on athleticism or personality or whatever is captured in a 3 minute video. In other words, you know the real you and you know your own worth whether others recognize it or not.

I have learned over the years (with two successful selections and multiple rejections) that it's ALWAYS important to do your best because that's the best thing to do. Everything else is outside of our control. All we can do is breathe deep, stay focused, and refuse to let ourselves be defined by the opinion (or selection) or others.
