Mystique (real name Raven Darkholme) is a fictional character in the Marvel comics and universe. She is a heroine turned villainess, but sometimes she seems to be an anti heroine, sometimes she appears to have redeemed herself. She is a mutant with the ability to shapeshift or mimic another person, and has taken on the identity of other superheroes and supervillains. She is also one of the various members of X-Men and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

She was created by Chris Claremont, Dave Cockrum and Jim Mooney, and first appeared in Ms. Marvel #16 in April of 1978 in a cameo, and made her full appearance in Ms. Marvel # 18 in June of 1978.

In the X-Men film series, she was portrayed by Rebecca Romijn, Jennifer Lawrence young, and Morgan Lily as a child.
