If you consider countless homeless people & drug addicts on the streets, with high rates of crime to go along with them to be beautiful, Portland is definitely the place for you. I'm glad that I left 30 years ago when it was a really nice place.

Portland is a democratic run dumpster fire. I lived there in the 70s and it was beautiful. I went for a visit in 2022. There is nothing beautiful about it now. Homeless everywhere, crime out of control, people doing drugs on the street. Please stop trying to make it sound like a good place to go!!

Homeless folks are now even more in 2024, as well as those unwelcome graffiti. The flip side is that it is legal to pump your own gas now in the Beaver state, while you can still get served by the attendants at the gas stations 😅

Lets put this into real life information.
Portland used to be an amazing beautiful city until they voted in Communist thinking radical Democrats and it is now a cesspool with people and business moving out faster than they can count.

Portland is one of those towns that really doesn't reveal itself immediately. In many ways, it's very 'word of mouth' and people/businesses don't advertise. You have to dig deep to meet the kind of people/places you want to connect with because most people here tend to be more reserved/introverted. So when out-of-towners visit they get a boring vibe or a sleepy vibe or rude even. But in my experience, native Oregonians are the nicest people, the most generous people, and the most welcoming. It's also the horticultural capital of America. There are more plants and greenery here than anywhere. It's certainly not for everyone: if you like more big city type energy or a country life, then no. But if you enjoy a balance of a medium city with access to wilderness, mountains, rivers, and the coast, then you could do far far worse than Portland, believe me.

What a difference 4 years makes. Those progressives you admire have destroyed this city. You should do this again and feature the countless homeless camps and huge garbage piles. It still has a natural beauty, but the atmosphere is truly ugly.

Yes, yes, I see. But the people aren't beautiful. Actually, quite repellent. In fact it's quite an ugly city, architecturally. Whatever beauty there is to be found, it lies in the mountains, forests, & ocean and is wholly independent and separate from the city itself. It's really saying something when this supposed 'utopia' is America's fastest shrinking city as of 2023. While people are fleeing this city by droves, many of those taking part in the mass exodus are LIBERALS. And what makes it amusing is that these said liberals are taking refuge from the very same 'progressive' policies they voted for!

I was born in Portland and lived the first ten years of my life in the NE Fesseden area. My folks moved to Laurelwood when I was ten, then onto Carlton until I was 15 and then moved to CA and been here ever since.

This place is horrible, complete with a statue of Vladimir Lenin in their garden just to insult the hard working American tourist. Makes you feel really bad to spend a hard earned dollar where they hate you.
