ShadowCaster | It's Real! | Review and Playthrough

Firstly, I don't trust anyone named "Kirt". Secondly, this reminds me so much of a more action-y Ultima Underworld- the intro cinematic especially but also basically everything else about it. Now it's time for me to download and play this bad boy.

Btw have you ever played "Gothic"? If not and if it isn't too "modern" for you (released in 2001🙃) maybe you wanna check it out. It's no dungeon-crawler but an interesting old rpg.

I hope you will listen to my sad tale, friend. As a teen I had RPG Maker for the PS1 and made a full game called Twilight Descends where you hunt a vampire. I spent a TON of hours on it. Then I picked up Hexen for PS1 and a game save took an entire memory card. Well, I deleted the game I made so I could play Hexen… and discovered it was a fun fantasy FPS ruined by excessive “where the f do I go, what the f do I do?” syndrome. To this day I’ve never finished Hexen.

Love the video my man. Another great one. I never knew about this game or heard of it. Couple points, "Kirt" enough said. Also the wolf dude reminds me of the altered beast transformation

The era of status bar faces introduced us to many bad ass, hard player characters. Second only to perhaps Doomguy, this guy is like a Slavic Dolph Lungren..whos also a werewolf???

I played this and I played Doom (at least the shareware part of it) when they came out. I preferred the slower paced gameplay of Shadowcaster. Though it could be nostalgia goggles given I hadn't remembered the extremely slow power recovery. Still, I also played Bard's Tale 3 and one technique there was to leave the game overnight so mana regen refilled everything. But that's because I was too stingy with consumables.

Wasn't aware of this game, I definitely have to try it. I was just recently replaying Heretic/Hexen games, and then also played through Hands of Necromancy (and it's sequel). It's a GZDoom game in which you play as a necromancer, who also happens to be a shapeshifter. And it was the shapeshifting I've found to be the best feature of the game (partially because it seemed very original to me, not being familiar with ShadowCaster).

Funny, just watched your Lands of Lore II video and now I wonder if they weren’t inspired by this game on some level
