Honestly, I've been loving this drama so far! The writing is good, and is enhanced by all the quality actors giving brilliant performances. I actually am really enjoying Ouyang, who isn't a terrible person, but a soft-hearted/cowardly person in a terrible situation. I know if he talked to Pan'er he would clear up so much, but I think it would also immediately have her shift gears into saving him, and would get them all in trouble or injured. I think it's a really interesting dynamic and shows that Ouyang is really only as good as the people supporting him, and doesn't have the will or spine to push for things himself.

I think Ouyang sincerely loves Pan'er. His love isn't overrated, he knows he can't fight against higher superiors so he just wants Pan'er to be safe

This is the point were dramas usually get annoying. I hope this one doesn't hover over the intrigues of that snake he calls uncle. I dislike "misunderstandings" the most.

Ouyang is trash. He can't properly marry Pan'er because he's protecting her. He can't return the painting she owns because he doesn't want to hurt his reputation. He can't redeem her friend because he doesn't want it to hurt his career. He can't write a divorce letter because he can't leave evidence to be used against him. These are all pretty-sounding excuses to make himself feel better. If he had the determination, capability, and will, he could fulfill every one of those promises, as he should. His first instinct in every situation of the mildest difficulty is to protect himself, then try to be a good person. That just makes him a coward. So cowardly that he refuses self-awareness of it and still tries to see himself as a good person
