Professional editor here. If you want to learn editing to be able to do it further than your own social media content I would reccomend learning DaVinci resolve, that way you can slowly learn professional, industry standard, colour grading tools, hollywood level vfx and compositing tools, and hollywood ready audio tools, without having to learn or install or switch between other programs. If you just want an editor to peice together clips, use imovie or final cut also works for some higher level editing.

Dylan, this goes well beyond just not using the software (and yes, you did mention it). If someone rips off one of my videos my voice, my image, my likeliness is now owned by someone else.

This is about stealing people’s biometric identities without their knowledge, consent, or any way to fight it. This is how people lose control of their digital selves. I smell a massive class-action lawsuit on the horizon.

CapCut seems harmless and easy to use, but it’s honestly scary that you can unknowingly give away the rights to your own or your family’s faces and voices — to be used in ads, AI training, or even sold to others.

I am not sure, and by reading terms I am not getting clarification, but I guess that is the point of their legal formulation. I have heard that this "getting rights to your work" is applicable only if you store it to their cloud, or you upload to social networks through the app. If you just use app to edit videos and save your video locally you should be "safe". Now, I dont claim this is true, this is what I have heard. Its supposedly what chat gpt said after been fed this user agreement .

Yep, I have the desktop and mobile version. They are literally counting on us not to read the license agreement. I didn't. And now I know why it is free. Goodbye Capcut. Even though I don't have anything of concern with the App right now, I might in the future and who knows if I'll remember this. Thanky you for sharing this important informantion with all of us.

Is this only an issue if you use CapCut Online OR if you use the desktop version to export directly to an online platform?
Can they even get your data if you just use the desktop version locally and export to local drives?

THANK YOU! Sending this to all my actor colleagues & friends so they don’t use it for their self-tape auditions. I mean, our whole industry is collapsing with our unions unable to stay ahead of the AI catastrophe, but cap cut is like using a nail gun instead of a hammer to seal the coffin. I’ve never downloaded or used it, and will continue to not do so.

Man this is nuts. I was actually thinking of using CapCut as I wanted an upgrade editing tool. Guess I'll look elsewhere.
