Hickok45. Spray with Ballistol, except in the gas tube. It likes to run wet.

Of course not, they're just biased on whose method of cleaning is the best. Get the rifle as clean as you can and enjoy it people... it's like little kids bickering about how each other tie their shoes differently. Shooting USA is highly renowned and wouldn't give bad info in their shows.

ugh, I hate when people shove their finger in the chamber, even worse when they teach others to do it. Very unsafe and a horrible idea. Looking is more than enough, there is not going to be some hidden bullet in there that you can't see. Don't stick your finger in there and risk losing it.....

@fulsame1 but AR's and M4's are considered the same weapon as over hundreds of different versions of them some fixed stocks some not but as for everything on the weapon its the same and also the US Army constructs the AR's, M4's (which again are the same weapon just civilian / military terms) and M-16's

@brentfoto There are much better videos out there. The fact that this vid is ONLY 6 minutes is part of the problem. A rookie to the AR15 has no business touching their gun if they are only watching this video. This goes well beyond field stripping, which most users shouldn't be doing. Some of the cleaning tools are wrong (ie an aluminum brush). Stick with AGI's armorer DVD for a thorough look at cleaning and explaining why we do and don't do certain things.

@lordcrusade Got it a little backwards there. AR-15 was Eugene Stoner's original designation under armalite. The U.S. military then designated it the m16, and later the m4.

I'm new to the AR-15 but have done research on it, read the Army manual, etc. gone to ar15.com, and I doubt there is a better, more concise video showing cleaning and reassembly than this one. I don't have any idea why this video is being criticized. This guy does in a little over 6 minutes the essentials which take 30 minutes or more with other video presenters. You guys are overly critical, and if you review the Army manual, you will see that much of it is followed.

No this is so wrong. If anyone were to actually do this their weapon would be worse off then when they started. Everything he did just loosened the crap inside. He didn't even clean the bolt carrier or even the inside of the bolt. And don't even get me started on the star chamber. Sorry but if you're going to look for help on how to clean an AR-15 look for someone who knows what they are doing.

@himoms1001 AR15 is a semi automatic only version of the M16 and normally doesn't support the use of the m203 unless your barrel is gov profile.

@Namnarooni Haha I know you had some good points. I love AR's but it's a pain in the ass in my state when you want to build one...no folding or collapsible stocks, Has to be have a barrel over 16 inches..no flash suppressor or threaded barrels and the list goes on. anyway I just read your comment about going to read an army manual as being cocky..but in hindsight it'd be a better idea then listening to this guy..

@Chris28456 - Actually, I made those comments to be constructive but you want to see it as trolling... The things I commented on are actual concerns by a good deal of us who have fired AR style platforms all of our lives... Especially the bit about sticking your pinky in the chamber when the bolt is charged... It's downright stupidity... yet this guy is showing the world how to do it....

He never cleans the carbon off the gas tube or the inside walls of the upper... all sortsa fun stuff builds up in there. A pipe cleaner is best for the gas port on the bolt.

Ответить

Secondly... You wanna run a wet patch with solvent down the barrel and let it sit a while before running the brush... And it will take more than 1 brushing... 5 minimum.

He doesn't lube the rails on the bolt carrier which he does catch in his notes (probably because we noticed it too). Whatever you do, DO NOT use a Q-tip to clean the inside of the gas key. I repeat, DO NOT EVER, NEVER EVER, use a Q-tip to clean out the inside of the gas key. You'll learn the hard way that when the cotton tip comes off the end of that stick and lodges in the gas key. You will then look at the gas key and think to yourself, "oh FiretrUCK"!

easy to clean and doesn't have the spring you have to watch out for that the AK does (unless you take the buffer tube out like this video shows, which again is unnecessary for a field strip). The AK isn't hard to clean either, but if you think this is hard then you've obviously never handled either or probably any gun.

This video is kind of odd. You talk about putting oil on several areas that don't need oiled every cleaning (or ever in the case of the dust cover pin, that never really needs lube) yet you don't say anything about lubing the area the bolt contacts the carrier and the four 'rails' that the bolt carrier contacts the upper. Those are some MAJOR areas that you missed! Also for everyone saying this seems so hard and an AK would be a lot easier, have you ever actually seen either? The AR is super

Seems to hit all the key points. Not quite as thorough as a few of the other AR15 videos I've seen, but then again it it also almost 1/5 the length of some of those out there. A very good quick reference for those out there just getting on board with the AR platform!
