As someone who has lived in many countries and been exposed to numerous cultures, a black wedding gown is considered the worst, from evil, to bad omen, bad luck, death, mourning..etc.
I understand these brides only think in fashion terms, but, IMO, there are unseen forces we don't know about.

I think with regard to her wedding it's important what SHE wants, not what her mother wants! This mother is trying to live through her daughter, this is no healthy relationship between the two...
Also, wearing white at your wedding is not that old a tradition; there were times when women were simply married in their best (sometimes even black) dresses and they wore the same dresses to church on Sundays and sometimes even were buried in them. So wearing black on your wedding day is not all that outrageous.

Show me someone who thinks their wedding dress needs to reflect their quirkiness and I will show you someone who is immature and selfish. She loved the dress, but thought it would make her a sell-out. Huh? She is so close to an epiphany. How about this: do a photo shoot in a quirky dress, have your wedding in that gorgeous white one. Or switch to a quirky dress for the reception.

My concern is that she wants to be eccentric. Like, that is the point. If she wanted a black dress because it was her favorite color or it was meaningful, then whatever. But this just sounds like “I want to be different to be different.” Which usually leads to regret

She imagine herself getting married. She easily forgot is her daughter is getting married and not her… she is very over controlling. She needs let hers daughter be self-reliant even though might hurt emotionally because she always been there for her daughter… that mom is hurting her daughter than she thinks. I understanding in both sides; the daughter wants to be free from her mother authority and the daughter wants to be her own person.

Get over it mom, it's HER wedding.

Let her wear what she wants, if she wants to look ugly, that is on her, not the mom.
