And there I was thinking that a vacation trip with a MX-5 requires careful packing...
Ответитьhey Tyler, thanks for sharing!! Good setup
Ответитьdope
ОтветитьNice setup. I noticed your rear rain fender. Is that something you made or bought?
ОтветитьWhat kind of internal gear hub is that in the rear? I couldn't understand when you said it. what are your thoughts on running an internal gear hub after riding it for a while? Thanks.
Ответитьgreat setup! Keep on!
ОтветитьBikepack tour: back tire, so this is my bedroom. Front tire: and here is the kitchen. I love it.
ОтветитьYou obviously don’t care about the way you look? Your gear looks functional and over time you’ve attached it to your bike any way you can with whatever is to hand. It could all be smartened up if you spent a few bucks! Wot! No chain oil? You’re having fun, thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьI like it, it's cheap but it's not Stupid cheap. Pretty good mix of affordable and quality parts. As for chain lube, it's a must in the back country. Some places you lube once a month, some places you lube once an hour.
ОтветитьNice! I love seeing real, everyday bikepacking setups and not just glamour shots of people with sponsorships or fortunes to blow. The bucket bottle cage is a great idea, I was looking to try something like that with PVC, but never thought to utilize the pre-made contours of a plastic bucket. I'd probably throw a squeeze bottle up on the stem-mounted cage, because what's the sense of having easy access to water when you gotta unscrew a Klean Kanteen, right? Thanks for the video!
ОтветитьThanks for sharing. Are you planing a tour?
greetings from Barcelona
Michael
Your anything cages are pretty genius! Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьI'm way more impressed with this setup than I would be with an expensive setup with bikepacking bags. Very impressed with how you've made it work like this.
ОтветитьThere's quite a few bike tourists who spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on their equipment; not me everything I have for bike touring including my bike is under $1000.00.
Ответитьice budget rig man! But I'd ditch a couple of the Klean Canteens for regular 20-24oz water bottles. They are lighter will stay in the cages better. Keep one KC for boiling water if you need to. Substitute the heavy rope for some 550 paracord. It'll handle any job you need with less weight and bulk.
Ответитьnicely done! Cheers from a really Cheap Bastard.
ОтветитьI like the sticker on the rear.
ОтветитьI heart hose clamps. Great setup
ОтветитьHi Tyler. I like your approach to Bikepacking. Proper solid mate ! I'm really interested in your rear mudguard but it's the only thing you didn't mention?????? And do you have any ideas for a front one ? thanks ! Warren
Ответитьyou rock dude! thanks for the hacks!
Ответитьcool
Ответитьlove the bottle holders on the forks
ОтветитьThat is a serious junk yard on 2 wheels. in other words i'm impressed. The additional water carriers is very smart thinking.
iv'e had the same bike since 1997, and it was second hand/used when i bought it. Its taken me on many adventures, i must admit iv'e gone all hi tech and bought panniers. have you done any filming of your bike packing trips?
Gary, Hertfordshire, England.
Solid setup.
ОтветитьI had a 03 trek 4300. The forks suck. RST= rickety suspension trash.
Ответитьa library book, really?
ОтветитьMacGyver
ОтветитьVery nice
ОтветитьEnjoyed this vid. I'm a newbie never actually gone out overnight yet just contemplating what gear to get and overwhelmed by options and cost. So glad to see a different way. Can you translate into plain speak what your reply was about the internal shifter? Can I make it with regular derailleur or will it definitely break on me? I have a Trek 6 series from like 2006 or so with a front suspension fork and disc brakes. For me that's it I can't invest in another bike so I want to make it work for bike packing. Can I add a charger wheel hub to keep my lights and phone charged up or do they break? I plan to take my old backpacking gear: beer can stove setup, tarp, etc. Do you set the brake and attach your tarp to the bike when you camp? I saw someone else do that once. Thanks!
Ответить"LESS is MORE"! While on a section of the Kokopelli - I used a banana peel to "lube" my drivetrain. That was the last thing I had to eat. I made it another 30 miles without my chain breaking.
Ответитьthe Anything cages on the fork...useful
ОтветитьWow, did I hear you say that your crank arms are 155s? If so, that's pretty short, eh? If so, how do you like running these shorter crank arms? Pros/cons?
Ответитьhow many miles/days did you roll with this rig?
ОтветитьYou must be related to MacGyver
ОтветитьGood stuff here. Thanks for the video man. I love the fork water bottle thing. Can I borrow that idea? lol
ОтветитьExcellent setup . Tottaly agree with other comments .. well better than all these other vids advertising expensive NAMED gear .
ОтветитьVery nice setup! I would like to know more about your rear fender, did you make it? Tried looking for a video about it on your channel but couldn't find anything
ОтветитьI know I'm later to then party, but that is a super dope setup. I gotta say it's legit. Great that you are sharing- lets people know you don't have to be boogie to get your camp on.
ОтветитьI love that you have a library book!
ОтветитьCongrats.
ОтветитьSorry i don t speak english just a little. Very nice. I think so it is a real apocalyptic bicycle:) Beautiful! Very simple, and very practical! I save your video.
ОтветитьIf works for you is OK , ingenious setup. Thank you for sharing .
ОтветитьThanks for sharing. Did you carry an ultra light tent?
ОтветитьCool setup! I love the 2-liter rack from a pail. This rig fits my budget.
ОтветитьOnly what you need.... All at a fraction of the cost of buying new branded stuff. Love it.
ОтветитьI don't see any real point to being that stupid Cheap... ??? a set of very high-quality Panniers an handlebar bag would only be a few hundred bucks.. an you would have room for Lube, .. I mean really how much is a rear Derailleur an new Chain... "Like I said before " Stupid Cheap"..
ОтветитьLove your set up!
