Why are we having dudes coach two fresh QBs when they have never coached QBs before? Also, why are we letting dudes call plays for the first time when they've never called plays before? This seems like common sense. We need experience.

nothing against coach Seth, but his demeanor was very low energy. I heard a player after the Texas loss, say he didn't speak to the team afterwards. kind of an energy drainer. meanwhile, the defensive staff got the defensive players rallied up to whip someone.

People think they make these changes to try and improve in season.

You do it before seasons end to give you a head start on the coaching search. Those conversations take place during seasons with other team’s personnel.

Mike Shanahan would be the slam dunk hire. His strategy now would fit nicely with who we have returning next year (apparently). I think this makes him a better fit for OU than Marion, in particular, who you see a lot of 21 and 22 personnel packages from. Watching the games recently of Indiana, you see a lot of 11 personnel, 12 personnel, and some 10. If we could come out in a 10 personnel package with Burks, Anderson, Anthony, Farooq…. That would be scary for any defense and opens up so much offensively.

I like how Marion’s offense utilizes less and maximizes that with mismatches found in over leverage of strong/weak looks but I don’t know if 2 rbs and only 2 WR looks works efficiently enough in the SEC.

If we do have those skill players return next year, I think Shanahan fits in great. He’s only making 800k right now too. Easy double offer from OU.

Personally I question if either QB is going to be the future. I almost think after some experience maybe Hawkins but not sure. Arnold holds on to the ball too long which creates issues so not sure how that will go. Hawkins it is hard to tell because he has lost all confidence it appears. I would like to see Hawkins stay because I think he has a big upside but guess we will see

Cayden Green did not enter the portal, he was tampered with. And we should be doing absolutely the same thing w OL this offseason versus waiting on lesser OL to enter the portal.

Why don’t you think they both will stay? Hawkins should redshirt more development. With JA back in it’s the same as they thought it would be at the beginning of the year.

Realistic expectation? 14-20 points a game. That’s with the defense giving you the ball on the downhill side.

Mark my words, Hawkins will end up being the better QB of the two. He has great work ethic and is willing to put his body on the line. Unfortunately, we are going to run him off by sticking with Arnold. JA has the same problem that Rattler had (and still has in the NFL). It's something between the ears that can't be fixed.

Still don’t understand what’s so complicated about the QB situation. Why is it any different than when the season started? If we want to keep JA and MH both or just one I doubt we would allow anyone to outbid in NIL and we are still the University of Fucking Oklahoma. To be a QB here is big time and both of these guys dreamed of playing at OU. Changes are being made but as far as how they have been played, playing ball my whole life through college, everyone gets benched at some point and you don’t just quit and want to change teams just because you played bad and got pulled. I don’t understand that line of thinking. MH was going to play behind JAnfor 2 years to begin with and we are still in that track and he has a chance to beat him out if he can. I just think you’re making a bigger deal out of it George. We as players can lose our jobs or get replaced whether that’s permanent or temporary. If you get pulled because you played bad and you were given every and fair opportunities to prove yourself, you don’t just pick Jo the ball and go home and change schools. Jesus, we compete, we have pride and with the OC situation being resolved I am going to assume it’s just as exciting to stay at OU with a new OC than it is to go to another school, also have a new OC and learn another system and learn a whole other program.

I just think it’s an easier decision for both of those guys to stay than what you are feeling Georgy;0)

The play calling is one thing, but our biggest problem is lack of coaching at the skill/execution/discipline level. Doesnt matter what play you run if you are totally befuddled at the point of attack.

Listen to his voice and his cadence, this is a losing coach he’s not gonna inspire his players, even with losses you have to be motivating and he can’t and he’s only in his third season getting paid tremendous amounts of money, the coach who just beat him is paid fifth of what he’s paid, he should never have fired Gundy, especially for the nothing that he did

I hope we can grab Shanahan after watching a couple of their games back and looking at the route combinations and how he calls plays.. he would be our best option..

They use a lot of 10 personnel, (4 Receivers) and they use the entire field. Sideline to sideline, The QB always seems to have a dump off route if the first 2 reads aren't open. They also used a lot of 11, too. (Three receivers 1 TE)

They have a powerful run game as well. They run downhill, not side to side, a lot of ISO, tosses, and sweeps (with cutback lanes).

I would pay him what he wanted and get his ass to Norman.

Ol haul from portal was hot crap, we lost whole line and green and everyone but most ou fans didnt want to admit it, plus no receivers happened to us this year. I didnt want to realize it either. But here we are with the oline.

I’m hoping that Kevin Soerry decommits and we can pursue someone else. I’m not at all a believer in him. He does not seem like an OU caliber quarterback from what I’ve seen

I know we have been beyond putrid but keep in mind we lost by 10 to Tennessee who beat alabama which has been the gold standard now we suck no doubt but i do think there is some good this team can still do i wont lay down just bc its been bad even if we lost every game id still hold out hope something can happen

BV loves this program, players, and coaches to much to not make it right. He’ll get it figured out. We’re lucky to have him.

We're not going to get an elite OC. An elite OC is either going to 1. Get a HC job or 2. Get well-paid in a comfortable OC job. Zero-shot a Notable OC comes in if BV is on the hot seat. Why come in as an OC if your HC could be fired the next year and then you're out too when the next HC is hired. You're wasting your time and success leverage.

I dont expect great at this point. Id settle with a pulse.
