His speech at the end should be played at the UN, it stills holds true today
ОтветитьThis movie is brilliant, the remake is garbage. They injected global warming politics into the remake. Imagine a planet with a global warming problem and his solution is to NEGATE ELECTRICITY. That means nuclear power, solar power, tidal power, any mechanic that changes into electrical power will not function because electricity has been negated. He has forced 8 billion people to burn fossil fuels for heat. That is not a solution. The remake is stupid.
ОтветитьI’m 81y/o. I maybe saw this when it first came out.
ОтветитьIf Gort and Klaatu had known of the impending rise of Donald Trump and MAGA, they would have incinerated the Earth in 1951!
ОтветитьI love how America look alike in 1951. Wish I was living there. Thank you for posting this classic film. Greetings from Canada.
ОтветитьSin duda es una de las mejores peliculas de sci-fi de todos los tiempos/one of best sci-fi movie without a doubt
ОтветитьIf you could only make it fuzzier with wavy lines or bars thru it, I'd swear I was 6 yrs old back in the 50's watching Chiller Theater or Creature Features on a Saturday night on our little B&W TV and rooftop antenna!
ОтветитьThe Ignorance of humanity is true today.
ОтветитьSo did anybody learn something from this movie instead of talking bout how great it is the world 🌎 is full of hate and evil stop the madness. We all need each other to live in peace period
ОтветитьThe choice is still ours to make.
ОтветитьDam! I have not see this movie a long time😃! Thank you!
ОтветитьZoom Zoom Zoom. I've been watching this movie 🎥🎥 since i was about 9. And I'm 70. A great movie 🍿🎥
ОтветитьKlattu Nikktu Barratu
ОтветитьClatu’s warning at the end was well said. This world is full of stupid people especially the ones running it. They should heed the warning.
ОтветитьHow did Gort go to the jail and back to the ship without being seen?
ОтветитьI could never bring myself to kiss Patricia Neal. Never found her attractive at all.
Now on the other hand if we are talking about Virginia Mayo????
Could there be a better science fiction movie, I think not, when you think it was made in the 50s, it's incredible.
ОтветитьPop-culture trivia -
This sound track was used for the 1960s black and white unaired "Lost in Space" S01E00 pilot episode - titled "No Place to Hide" - before they created their own unique sound track for S01E01 - titled - "The Reluctant Stowaway" The pilot had two characters missing - The robot and Dr. Smith
Wouldn't there also be planes falling out of the sky and thousands of people dying from that too?
ОтветитьWatch this movie when it came out, Maybe it's for real, maybe the world leaders should take notice. Why else would a 60 year old flick be on you tube suddenly show up now. Think about it. What is going on earth today. JUST SAYING.
ОтветитьThis is probably how this scenario would play out in our present reality. We’d shoot first, attempt to dissect alien specimens, and then ultimately get what we deserve. Meanwhile, earthlings would hide behind their respective lame religious beliefs but no one will save them.
ОтветитьFor those who are interested, some other good SiFi movies from the 1950’s time frame are “Forbidden Planet”, “Invasion of the Body Snatcher”, & “The Thing”. Make sure to watch the originals 1950’s version since several of these movies have been more recently remade, which are OK, but in my opinion not as good as the original versions!
A note of interest, the original version of “The Thing” starred as the monster a very young James Arness. For younger people, James played later in his career Marshal Matt Dillon on one of the longest running TV western’s, “Gunsmoke”! And Patrica O’Neal in this movie, “The Day the Earth Stood Still” was one of the original actors in the famous long running Broadway Production of “The Miracle Worker”! Which was later made into a multi Academy Award winning movie, for its stars.
Of course, that’s not to say there aren’t good SiFi movies being made today! But the bottom line for any movie, TV show, play, etc. is telling a good story! And sometimes I feel with today’s abilities in special effects, the story occasionally gets buried!
Fantastic movie
Thanks for posting
Mid to early 50's?????
The days people trusted media
ОтветитьA GREAT movie - BUT the totally implausible lack of security at the space ship, and the complete ease at which The Robot goes to get Klaatu, and brings him
back to the ship without being discovered is just too much, and it could have been done so much more believably. I would love to see a colorized version.
Una de mis primeras películas de ciencia ficción de mi infancia ❤😊
ОтветитьI loved the acting by Gort and his emotional expressions!
ОтветитьStupid unnessary adverts!!!!!
ОтветитьThough I loved this movie, especially as a kid, as an adult it simply doesn't make sense.🤔
Ответитьthree quarters of a million views.... almost 1.4 thousand comments.... there's a message here lol
ОтветитьThe movie was made in 1951 which is amazing I thought it was more in the '60s. it's really terrific to watch a movie that doesn't have naked people running around, men kissing men and women kissing women and them both he she or it's doing whatever that they show that they do on Amazon or Netscape or HBO etc and also on the regular TV channels they show that smut. it's also terrific absolutely wonderful to your ears do not listen to the four letter words that are shouted like or spoken just like a a handshake or a hello or good to meet you Mr f which is horrible for children to learn.
ОтветитьGreat movie, but it occurred to me: He has the ability to turn off all the power world-wide, level cities, even incinerate the entire planet...but he couldn't hack into TV and radio stations and broadcast his message to the whole world at once? Klatuu Barada Nikto, indeed.
ОтветитьCall...harris
ОтветитьBernard Hermann the music composer of this film also did Psycho, The Birds, Citizen Kane, Vertigo, North By Northwest, Jason and the Argonauts, Mysterious Island and his last film was Taxi Driver. What a resume!!
ОтветитьCall...biden...wake...up....joeie!
ОтветитьI own this movie on Blu Ray and I'm still watching it here on YT!! The two doctors smoking darts. LOL
ОтветитьThis is a beautifully written screenplay full of meaning and gravitas. Aside from the brilliant special effects, sets, props, and fantastic b&w noir filming, even the quotes are superior: "My people haven't. I'm very sorry, I wish it was otherwise.", "...it's entirely possible; in light of our meager knowledge...", "...we may be up against powers that are beyond our control.", "...you see, they don't have any wars.", "I am fearful when I see people substituting fear for reason...", "I wouldn't erase that; the professor needs it very badly.", "...there are several thousand questions I'd like to ask.", "Violent action...since that seems to be the only thing your people understand.", "Bobby was telling the truth, wasn't he?" "Yes", WASHINGTON QUARANTINED No One Permitted to Leave City, "I don't care about the rest of the world.", "Join us; and live in peace or pursue your present course...".
ОтветитьNo fat people in those days!
ОтветитьLittle girl in me is super excited right now.😅ty!🇨🇦🤦🏻♀️
Ответить"People my foot...they're democrats."...
ОтветитьI was upset when POTUS didn't meet him , but maybe the next space time ☮️
ОтветитьThis is the original and the best.
ОтветитьIn my opinion, this is one of the best science fiction movies ever made.
ОтветитьSimply the Best.
ОтветитьJust out of interest, when would you say the post- WW2 period ended? 1960?
ОтветитьThe issue with the reboot is simple: nobody takes any time to explain anything and we're just supposed to assume that stuff is happening. The scene with the Professor (John Cleese in the reboot) says nothing, no real information is passed over, just as an example. That's fine for many movies that are relatively simple in concept even if they might be strange or abstract. Here, you need to understand the issues and stakes. It needs to take some time to build that understanding. Which is one of the reasons this works and the reboot doesn't. Along with silly over done effects, and generalized bad writing and direction.
Many of the 50s and 60s movies were terrible Cold War screeds. A few were different and stood out because of their focus on real ideas and robust stories. This is perhaps the best of them IMHO.
Gort … Ba rada nick toe😂 love it!
ОтветитьTake a good look at this movie it's like looking in mirror at our own reflextion. The human race is doomed due to our own stupidity. I think it's getting too late to change😢
