ОтветитьHow do I wake my spirit cold?
We always say when our history's told
If only we knew the things we know
There's a question ages old
Let me down easy, let me down slow
If all good things ever come and go
Let me back down in a place I know
Hold the nail for the hammer stroke
Oh this my trash, this my tome
Oh this my blood, this my bone
How do I learn my dreams to mold,
To lay them bare in the morning cold?
If they're still out there then the chasm grows
For all you know, for all you've known
Let me down easy, let me down slow
If all good things ever come and go
Let me back down in a place I know
Hold that nail for the hammer stroke
Oh this my weapon, this my loam
Oh this my blood, this my bone
How…
This video has been in my “watch later” for 4 years.... Glad I finally got around to it. The song slaps!!

Most people die but others just go
She's still out there and the chasm grows

ОтветитьI heard this song for the first time back in 2018. I was going through a really depressing time, having just been cut off by a really abusive ex and having no solace. My only escape was music but because we shared all of our music, his taste was now my taste and I couldn't find comfort in even that because everything I would listen to made me cry. Then I stumbled upon this song. This song was the catalyst; it is solely responsible for sending me down the path of discovering Indie Folk music and just how much I love it.
That was the summer of 2018. It's been almost four years but to this date, indie folk remains probably my favorite genre to listen to. I have phases of wanting to listen to other stuff more like generic pop, synthwave, oldies, or more recently post-rock. But I always come back to indie folk. It just resonates with my heart in a way.
My grandparents were deep lovers of traditional folk music and I grew up with great exposure and appreciation of it. I guess hearing it always made feel closer to them. My grandfather passed away in 2020 and my grandmother's memory is slowly getting worse. But hearing this music, it's like a little moment of solace away from the world where I can feel my childhood once again, not just remember but really let myself be like I was back then.
Now I'm also in a better place. I've graduated college. I met a wonderful man and now we live together. He's been super supportive of me through bad jobs and unemployment and various health issues that have come up. And our song is a folk song, the first one I can recall him showing me when we met, Bloom by The Paper Kites. We often share our love of indie music of different spades together and it's wonderful.
Life's not been perfect for me or even honestly very easy these past couple of years, but I'm in such a good place now and I'm really grateful for this music being there to help me along and particularly grateful to this song for showing me a whole world that is now a deep part of my life in so many ways.
Apologies for the essay lol, hope anyone who actually took the time to read this has a most wonderful and blessed day.
I heard the lyrics, I think it pursuits a sad experience, hoping for a good one in the future.
anyway, the comfort of this song, made me think that maybe, it'll make my SDE wedding video fun. and emotional
