Taylor Swift said it best- sometimes you have to shake it off, physiologically!

We see it in animals when they shake after a stressful situation. After human birth I observe a lot of shaking in others and in myself. It’s physiologically normal and your body’s way of processing the intense/strong/stressful (stress isn’t always negative, just means it’s a lot! And it is!!) event. I always tell people to try not to fight it- that it’s healthy and normal. Warm blankets can help! If you’re birthing in the hospital request one of their warmed up ones.

My whole body wanted in on that release! Notice how after I take a deep breath my arm joins in! I don’t even know until I watch the video back. Aren’t our bodies and nervous systems amazing?!

It’s called a neurogenic tremor and while we weren’t trying to make it happen, it often can when working with the psoas (our fight or flight muscle!).

Did you shake /tremor after birth? Have you ever had a practitioner led release? Pretty cool!!

PS this is my husband of 20 years! He’s a craniosacral therapist in the Minneapolis MN area 😍
