A certain percentage of African Americans might be homeless, but all homeless people are not homeless because they do not have a choice. Many of them choose to live that way to avoid responsibilities. I have worked with them and I know that some people (both black and white) can return home, but they don't want to adhere to rules. This segment of the homeless population cannot be factored in with the real homeless people who did not choose their predicament.

Education in America is now indoctrination which is why Liberals fight so hard against School Choice.

The problem is not opportunity or equal rights. The problem is that a large part of todays african-american culture is not interested in improving their live through education, hard work and perseverance. Its simply not kewl to be a good student, or to get a proper job. Growing up as a kid past your teens is challenging. Your choices and lifestyle is so heavily impacted by your peers, the other students and kids around you. And if the dominant group of kids treat education as a joke, mock others that are actually trying to learn and improve themselves, then in the end most kids will be swayed and fall into the same cycle. By the time they understand that this path is destructive, its to late in live and they are locked in.
Kids need a stable family setting that they respect and love, they need other kids that share their goals in educating themselves. Without that, they are mostly doomed to remain at the bottom of the heap.

The thing is he is making a case for the exception. The mere fact that he can only point out a few blacks over the course 60 to 100 years shows the exception. If being Black and successful wasn’t exceptional in America we wouldn’t have the first Black President or the first Black Female Vice President. We wouldn’t continue to hear the first Black this and the first Black that! If it was normal for Blacks in America to successful without the exceptional title we would have more successful blacks in the history books locally, state, and national! With all the talent and skills that Blacks have given an equal opportunity we should have as many leaders in various positions as white Americans. Exceptional is not always bad it’s just a reality in America for majority of Black Americans.
