ОтветитьIf you’re not making money from social media, get off of it. There’s no real reason to be on it if you’re not making money from it. The FOMO is so bad for you
ОтветитьI swear the internet is more addictive than the traditional addictions like alcohol or tobacco. As helpful as the internet is, we would all be much better without it. It amplifies the bad stuff about people.
ОтветитьThe picture of James Rorty is actually a picture of Richard Rorty...
ОтветитьThis is why im avoiding all media that i cant addblock. Facebook is just adds as content with adds in between the adds
Ответить"Pay attention to how you're paying attention", what a great video! +1 subscriber.
ОтветитьI need to answer most of the questions of this video with one word: capitalism
ОтветитьWe have created a generation (or two, or three) of stress addicts. It's not about attention, it's about our constant need for A/V stimulation to get our next fix of dopamine, endorphins, endocanabinoids, etc., which, unfortunately, also includes chronically high cortisol levels. Cortsol and our overactive sympathetic nervous systems are the cause of ALL of our "diseases of civilization" that are killing us NOW.
Ответитьu/spez saved me from reddit
Ответитьi dont mind as long as its from independent content creator
ОтветитьEven though there's not much here I don't already know, it's a great video that works well as a reminder to value my attention and think about what I pay attention to.
I read part of Stand Out of Our Light as curriculum for ethics (I study philosophy at the university), and it was very interesting and enlightening!
"corrosive" is written with a double-r. Disliked, unsubscribed, ignored! Thought I would be too distracted to notice, huh?! Nah, I immediately spotted it when I was looking up from the tiktok video on the phone to continue reading the news article on my third monitor.. :P
ОтветитьI think the public is catching on. At Canada Post yesterday I was presented with a survey I asked the staff “How accurate do you think these surveys are?” They snorted and gave a side eye.
ОтветитьVery informative -- from Philippines
ОтветитьAlternative title:
How you let Big Tech ruin your attention.
The resson is simple sneak in tyranny whilst everyones not pwying attention... Sems to be working hell yhe lsst feecyears wouldnt have worked without it...
I guess the scary part is despite knowing big tech censored it all here we are.
Id like to sincerely thank the author(s) for this video. Its ironic that this information has to be delivered via the same means that it's warning us against, but its a brilliant overview and analysis of what everyone is exposed to and some have to fight with every minute. Ill definitely re-watch it again before my next digital detox
ОтветитьWow ❤
ОтветитьStrange… I don’t feel different! Despite having ADHD and being impatient, I seem to be very patient compared to TikTokers. Kids these days would never ever have the balls to sit through a 1-hour movie!
Ответить"Pay attention to how you're paying attention" -Then & Now
ОтветитьThanks sir and T&N team, 🙏
ОтветитьThis channel is fantastic! I’m surprised you don’t have more subscribers, but please keep making these great films.
ОтветитьWhen I was studying psych in undergrad, I realized very quickly that the skills I was learning could be used for good or evil. And marketing was the evil. I still hate it until this day.
ОтветитьDamn this is one of the best videos I’ve watched on here.
ОтветитьWe should cover Silicon Valley in NAPALM
ОтветитьMy attention span has diminished so much during the past few years….
I can’t sit down longer than 10mins watching tv, I turn a game off after just 15 mins, I watch multiple videos at the same time
Like now, I’ll have this on whilst clicking on shorts and I have th tv playing in the background. It’s crazy
Why are you using a 1920s fox-trot when talking about 1860s French posters?
ОтветитьThank you sooo much for this video ❤🔥
Plz consider writing a book... Then and Now... I would read it definitely 💪
Look into astrazine that chemical companys are using to change us
ОтветитьAnd today its all video games teaching people. Or brain washing them.
ОтветитьAttention power without social type technology is weath now.
ОтветитьThis particular video almost frighteningly captures the essence of a slow, confusing erosion that I've been experiencing more and more. It's like living in a constant tangent.....one isn't ended, even when I'm merely thinking through an issue of local importance to me, before I realize that I didn't even finish the line of thought that I started on. And I still don't seem to be able to experience or understand as much as I used to, even earlier this year.....much less write about it regularly as I used to. Even the things I'm learning, which is what i spend a large part of my time doing online as I did "before", seem to be less embedded in my mind, a strange inability to summon knowledge for the actual purpose it's meant to serve as if the accumulation of knowledge, even learning mathematics or German, seems divorced from it's innate purpose. It's annoying....(laughing)
ОтветитьI think the constant consumption of information (through social media, netflix, podcasts) makes our brains passive and lazy and we unlearn how to actively think on our own.
ОтветитьWow🎉
ОтветитьGreat video Then & Now and I like your videos so alot :]
ОтветитьDon;t you have a website?
ОтветитьHats off to you, comrade, for your enduring commitment to deep thought in shallow times; meaning in a maze of empty signifiers; courage amidst the horrors.
ОтветитьAll of this is exactly why I got into motorcycling. Swing a leg over, start the bike and go. Your mind is so preoccupied with the function of the machine, the wind hitting your face and the smells of nature that you can truly break free from the world's b.s. No dinging notifications, he said she saids or flashy screens. Just therapy on two wheels. You and the machine.
ОтветитьGreat advice Then & Now. "Pay attention to how you are paying your attention".
ОтветитьThank you so much for your work!
ОтветитьSome of your videos are very dark and distressing. Do you really have to do that to make your point?
