Image sharpening, it's why texture have more contrast and sharpening, it's not "AI" in tensor core, god you are an insufferable ignoramus really making things up as you go. Anyone using dlss for a long time knows it obviously is able to also do shader / texture level sharpening.

The Geekbench test shows the Switch 2 is better than and PS4 @single and multi core operations at best guess. As it should be given its new tech!

nice analysis. i think the CPU OS reservations deserve to be mentioned and unfortunately SW2 is using 2 full cores. hopefully it'll be optimized and reduced but this isn't favorable vs the other systems as it stands.

Switch 2 isn’t near the ps5 in terms of power, but the switch isn’t in competition with the ps5 so it truly doesn’t matter. S2 will be an amazing overall handheld experience for the price.

I wish they went with something like lil big architecture, p cores for system and low end games, and some stronger cores for more demanding games.

What you also have to keep in mind (and correct me if I am wrong): the Zen2 in XboxSeries / PS5 has less L3 cache than the Desktop variant (16MB compared to 32MB), so the difference to the Switch 2 CPU is even smaller. Also there was this "max. 1,7GHz" mentioned in the leaked specs, which may become available later on.

The orin does not use the A78C, it uses The A78AE, which requires a specific AE DSU, a completely different architecture from the bottom up, and requires a seperate cluster for every 4 cores. This entire comparison using the geekerwan simulated bench is completely worthless.

The A78C Features all eight cores on a single cluster, and Dynamic Per Core Voltage and Frequency Scaling, which means having all 8 ccuplex cores clocked at the same frequency is very silly nonsense. It's going to clock one or a couple cores at its top clocks for the main single threaded work loads, a handful at mid clocks, and the os cores at low clocks.

The released clock speeds being higher in handheld than docked is a tell tale sign that the leaked clock speeds are not for the cpu cores, but for the arm shared dynamiq unit, or DSU.

Raising the clock speed of the cpu cores raises their memory consumption. Main unified memory bandiwdth is lowered in portable mode. This dog dont hunt.

The DSU sysclock is also the clock speed for the cpu L3 cache. Raising it a bit raises the L3 Cache bandwidth for the entire cpu, making it lower its reliance on the unified main memory bandwidth, which gets lowered in portable mode.

So basically the switch2 is between a ps4 pro and a ps5

I find the PS5 comparisons funny. Wishful thinking. I also find it pretty random that DLSS/Frame gen and upscaling are being touted as amazing for Nintendo to have but in the PC space gamers get pissed off at all the upscaling, especially in UE5 games.

Nintendo never competes with the big hardware consoles. They stopped that years ago . They will be stubborn and greedy and the Nintendo gamers keep defending them.

I was blown away by the old Nintendo NES/Snes/Cube/N64 etc but in recent times they are far from that level of genius.

I also find it funny how many Nintendo fans are banging on about Cyberpunk. I remember many taking the piss out of this game at launch on console.. funny how the tables turn. Bare in mind the PS4/Xbox One ran this game with no upscaling.

Cyberpunk is at its peak on a good PC. No other version comes near. Its as simple as that.

Switch 2 will be a decent system but get your reality in check. It will be nowhere near a PS5 or SX. It will be its own thing with hopefully good games from Nintendo and its in house devs? That is my only reason for buying.

The Switch 2 CPU is still underpowered for my likeing.
Even My 170 Dollar Poco X6 Pro has a much faster Cpu a mediathek dimisey 8300 would be a much better fit with the Nvidia Ampere Chip with the DLSS

The problem here is PS5 came out years ago. The Switch 2 should be many times more powerful than the PS5 at this point but it’s multiple times weaker. Unacceptable. Why can’t Nintendo make a permanently docked unit for adults with performance that matches the newest tech of the time?

Its quite possible the hardware behaves better than whats expected.

It runs at 40 frames per second and it’s actually pretty smooth compared to what I expected. Provided you have a TV that is capable of 120 Hz output.

I find that highly unlikely considering PS5 is using higher clocked Zen cores, and the Switch 2 is using older ARM cores with cutdown L3 cache, and several cores reserved for OS.

Power talk is old hat,the image quality and smooth gameplay is all that matters,dlss in higher resolutions looks superior to native.

It is still mind-blowing that the switch 2 can run third party titels 60fps 4K 😍 for a handheld it is a really powerfull one in my opinion.

Why do most people here keep comparing raw native rendering power to image quality?!!! Nobody says Switch 2 is as powerful but in regards to final results it provides comparable and quite similar image quality as ps5 just at lower frame rates and the final results are incredible. I also wonder how amazing Cyberpunk looks and plays on Switch and do not forget the gyro and more support on Switch 2 which makes the gameplay more precise, easier and more fun. It reminds me how much more fun I had with Resident evil 4 on the Wii after playing it on ps3. Thanks for the thorough analysis. At the end: the switch 2 is more powerful than a PS4 but much slower than a PS5 and many times slower than the pro. The switch 2 is slower than a Steam Deck and much slower than a Legion Go or Ally with the Z1 Extreme. Besides, people with those x86 chips have worse battery life but run all what steam, epic and alikes have. And many support egpus
