I'm proud of the young boy, that risked getting caught running to a neighbor to get help. I praise the neighbor, that called the authorities to get the children help, and out of that abusive situation.

This parenting style is so weird because she laughs and smiles when their punishments are brought up, but when they laugh and smile about what they did she gets serious and threatens them with more punishment

Ruby since you were selfish and starved and abused your children you get to be in jail hopefully without food. This story is so beyond disgusting and truly dispictable that there were multiple reports of abuse and authorities didn't do enough.

It will be interesting to see what sort of behind the scenes influence that the LDS church had in this. After all, Ruby was a multimillionaire and Jody was endorsed BY THE CHURCH as a therapist for the congregation. Local police would have had to tread lightly regarding the family if the church deemed them as a high priority/high influence family.
The LDS church is hugely powerful in that state.

Another police and DCFS failure. Child services are so awful, they always allow abuse to carry on.

It's scary how many of these types of cases are linked to the LDS - the authorities need to investigate the organization

She always seems happiest when she is doling out her deranged punishment, she's just a monster, and prison is exactly where she belongs.

Annie, thank you for covering this case in such depth. I only realized while listening to your story how much a lot of what she said to her kids is what my own mother said to me while I was growing up. It was like a slap in the face. It’s confirmed my decision I ,add about a year ago, finally, at almost 40 years old, to cut ties with her and my father. He also defended her. Both were physically, emotionally, and verbally abusive growing up, and extremely controlling. I’ve grown up with passive S word ideation since I was about 10, and struggled with going between it and active ideation and planning since I was about 18. I’ve had 6 attempts since then. I’m 40 now, and quite frankly shocked as hell I’ve made it this long. I’m married, have two children, one in heaven who was born sleeping, and one on earth that I’d do everything I could go and am baffled by my own mother’s behavior over. And she CHOSE to be a mother; I was adopted after my birth mother and sperm donor of a p3do older family friend father threw me away. (B mom them got pregnant several more times for the welfare money but only kept the boy babies)

I just don’t get it, I don’t. But thank you for the clarity, Annie and sorry to all you others out there who went through upbringings like this. Kids deserve better. No one asks to be born.

The oldest and the 2 youngest kids were probably most certainly fighting back to their unbalanced crazy mom. Withholding food?? Telling the kids that they wont be getting Christmas presents but the other kids would be?
I hope these poor kids can recover from their horrible mom's parenting. I hope Ruby and Jodi are suffering in jail for how they treated these kids.

Saw one of her videos paying her kids grades and she says that the kid who have all As should degrade at least one grade to know what is failure 😡 what a off comment to do about your own kid. Not mention that everything is about ruby. 🙄

The father is trying to say he had no part in the child abuse but he was definitely a part of it

I was sent to one of t he wilderness camps. I was horrible to my mom, wasn’t going to school, hanging with the wrong crowd and drinking, amongst other things. My counselor brought it up to my mom, and she was desperate, so off I went. It was me, 7 teenage BOYS, a male counselor, and a female counselor. We parked, and the agenda was to hike a certain amount of miles per day, and the camp would end once we completed a huge circle. If you couldn’t start a fire with flint, you just didn’t eat, and you froze at night. The teen boys had snuck in a lighter, but wouldn’t let me use it.

My mom bought me a pair of boots that were too small, and my feet were covered in bleeding blisters. So, I would walk in just my socks. I couldn’t keep up with the group, so the male counselor drug me by my hair. Once I forgot my pot, I was told to walk back and get it, (several miles back$,) and screamed at me the whole time. Once, I was sleeping on the side of the road, when a truck of hunters stopped to see it if I was okay. They offered me a ride, but I refused, thinking the counselors would hurt me. (I don’t know if this was real or imagined.). The camp was for 3 weeks, and the last night we were back at the truck, where they had food, and one tent to share. Since I had not really had any food, I drank a ton of apple juice. A few hours later, I needed to go to the bathroom, and couldn’t get the zipper to work, after trying to crawl over all the boys. So, I had diarrhea all over myself. I didn’t have other clothes, so I was reunited to my mom like this. On the way home, (45 minute drive,) I was screaming, as the heat was de-thawing my body from the frostbite. We went to the hospital where I was kept for almost 2 weeks. I had severe frostbite, bleeding ulcers in my stomach, I was dehydrated, malnourished, and had PTSD. I had nightmares for weeks that the counselors were coming for me. I don’t blame my mom, this was before the internet, and she couldn’t deal with all the misbehavior, and she can’t even talk about it without crying. I said all that to vouch for how terrible the wilderness camps are.

Family channels are so problematic, there’s a channel that has filmed their daughter as soon as she came through the birth canal, she’s now about 4 years old, with massive mental health issues that are blasted all over the internet under the guise of showing other parents that they “aren’t alone.”

My mother was a lot like her. She drove my father to suicide before I was born and then kept me isolated from his family and everyone else. Drove my sister to suicide and made her clean up her mess when she got out of the hospital. Drove my brother to suicide more than once but one of the times my brother called her and she didn't want to leave partying with her friends so she called my sister (who worked 15 mins away) and told her to leave work because she "needed to be there for her brother".... She also took my bed and my door for months. I had to sleep on her floor. I wasn't allowed to have any conversations if she wasn't listening or allowed to go even outside alone. She mentally tortured us but everyone thought she was great. 🙄 I'm 30 and I cut her off about 3 years ago and she still thinks she's entitled to me and my children. She won't leave us alone. No one ever helped and she's running free destroying lives... I hate evil people!!!

I am disgusted that she said hopefully noone gives her food thats wild. I don't see why the husband think he has nothing to do with this behavior he's on video talking about discipline and all that. So horrible the father should be in jail too

Kevin must have been ok with the punishment of skipping Christmas. He must have been ok with sending the boy away to this wilderness camp. He must have been ok with taking the bedroom away from this boy. He must have been ok with depriving these kids of food as punishment. He knew what was going on. He’s just covering his butt. I am just so upset about what was going on with these poor kids. How can you be ok with torturing your children as punishment? These people make me sick.

I feel these sisters could have done more but what? Legally their hands were tied but couldn’t they have called the authorities and reported their sister and her husband? These poor children were being tortured and abused and the families did nothing to help them. What ever they tried to do it wasn’t enough.

She needs to get reeducated in prison by inmates, she will get off her mega high horse.
Also it should be televised and with the $ made by viewers help child victims of parent abuse.
(I feel her kids don't need more money than "her" assets).
