Also yah, don't like Johathan answer on res. He'd be right if maybe higher lvl gear it wasn't possible to roll t1, t2, or even t3 res slots but most of the time you still have to socket runes to get max res.

I'm sure better unique that are more viable would help build diversity. But honestly the one thing that would vastly help diversity is monster damage, health, defense and modifier rebalancing.

I play a lich and I have good gear with good stats and build is pretty basic. Yet bosses take too long and I run into mobs with life reg (and I have support gem that reduced life ren by 50%), and those rares can take forever.

I didn't really have the same take away regarding skills, Jonathan touched on the fact that for PoE1 skills were designed with the idea that almost any skill could be the main focus of a build and PoE2 just wasn't designed like that and that's something they need to consider going forward. He did say more end game uniques would open up more builds but it didn't sound like that was intended to be the only fix especially when they started talking about the balance between different elements.

Regarding the movmentspeed he also said that they are working on something for this but that they are not ready to share what yet.
If you read between the lines it sounded that it could be something that gives you movmentspeed out of combat or something like that.

i think its kind of wild how negative you are on every answer. he often gives the answer you actually want but oh they arent dropping everything to immediately address your personal #1 issue.

to me that just seems insane. like obviously every month and every patch more and more of these will be adressed.

first every1 loses their minds that poe1 isnt getting updates so f ggg.

they drop what they were doing and now poe1 is getting regular updates, but now ghazzy says f ggg because his minions are not perfect!

every1 says movement is too slow, so they say fine here take all the movement speed. now its too fast

like how do you not see you are the problem. your crying and bitching about every little thing literally is the problem. the fact you do not have any patience. omg the game isnt exactly perfect right now waaah

On the topic of movement speed, nobody was arguing that the baseline of the two games wasn't the same. The argument is poe2 has larger maps and a lot of backtracking, with no capability to speed up. PoE1 has QS flask and movement abilities. PoE2 needs something similar.
Also the dodge roll in Last Epoch feels like I'm actually dodging. In PoE2 the dodge skill feels like I'm stuck in mud. They have to increase the dodge roll speed in PoE2 for it to be viable or make it dodge a larger distance so it can actually get you out of trouble

Worth pointing out regarding balances, Jonathon stated they only have two viable resources that can do balancing and these two work on balances across both POE1 and 2 (WHICH IS CRAZY)

if you're going to 'fix' things with unique items you need an overwhelming amount and variety of unique items. otherwise there will simply be a few standouts that every build revolves around. thus, creating dead everything else. I would prefer overwhelming amounts or none. the middle ground is a dangerous place where, again, only a few builds reign supreme.

They should let us get 4 affixes on flasks and add stuff like temporarily increase movement speed, cure poison, stop bleeding or whatever to make the flasks more interesting.

I wish they would double the sockets on everything. Four for armour and two for everything else. Need more determinism to be able to switch gear around late game, especially when it comes to resistances.

re: movement speed the maps are just too damn big. All of them. Checkpoints don't help much either as you don't often have one rare left by a checkpoint you already discovered.

Using Ruthless mode as the basis for PoE2 was a dumb idea.

I hate so much they keep the excuse that players dont accept nerfs during EA. Players were pissed that they couldnt respec bricked builds after nerfs because the cost was ridiculously high, but classic GGG takes from issues the only thing that suits them. And theirs nerfs are so hardcore it makes the targeted mechanic useless, they just cant hold back, they nerf it from multiple angles. But buffs? Fuck heres 3% buff to skill that cant even do half of meta skill damage.

Well... the only thing that pisses people off with mid league nerfs i think is that GGG thends to overshoot nerfs. if they did more frequent balance changes so the player can adjust with smaller changes to gear and stuff it won´t get that much of a backlash. we saw this with the league start nerf of 0.2 a lot of skills got overnerfed to the point you can rarely find success creating builds that are decend with those skills atleast if you have a low to mid budged.

Jon is absolutely right about mid-league nerfs. His analogy is great. The only time it's ever the right thing to do is when an exploit threatens the fun of the majority or the economy to the point it's going to drop more players than the nerf.
4 month leagues sounds great as I want to keep up with both games.
The socketables are a 50% failure in my mind. They are great for levelling and fixing resists, but they may as well be a bench craft at this point. The only advantage I see to GGG for making this process is selling socketable tabs. It's of no real advantage to the player beyond levelling. Perhaps they can fix it with more options, but they can't keep that up forever as it will saturate the loot.
As for minions, I can see it being tricky without minions becoming the ultimate build above all else. Right now you can do all content with the +10 minion skills for scaling. It's not the fastest but I would argue it shouldn't be either considering the skill level requirement to play the build is vastly less than any kind of self-damage build. It feels like the advantage of having minions take the risk and do the dps should be offset by the player keeping them alive or buffing them whilst staying out of the way of any damage. Right now it feels like it's in a pretty good place for that theory. The only problem being spectres and wisp form. Wisp is obviously frustrating. Spectres need a spirit cost overhaul in my opinion. I'd like to use certain setups, but not being able to afford the full setup, or having a reduced number of spectres because of variation, is killing my will to try.
There is a guy in the POE2 discord who has been religiously trying different spectre builds since league launch to this day. I've seen him go through at least 20+ setups. Everyone leaves him lacking in some area and he has more spirit than anyone else I've seen. But if he is having fun I guess it's not a problem for him. But to me, I see it as 2 months of frustration on his part if I put myself in his place. Spectres should be where the extra power for minion builds come from.
