He is a giant! I love his complex harmonies and the intensity of this music.
Ответить"conversations we will never have" felt like a shout back to herringbone.
ОтветитьStill so great!!!
ОтветитьTaken on your last shape
Now, carry these lines through the canyon
All these hills will surely wash away
All these hills will surely wash away
One at a time, the lamps died
Left shapes in the dark I can't describe
All us sightless creatures find our way
All us sightless creatures find our way
Underground
Great plates that crack and groan
And break apart
The earth shaking miles below
One more living nightmare
Born to a world that don't care
The truth is always brighter than you say
The truth is always brighter than you say
But it's your fate
You will watch us flash and fade
And get torn apart
This place wild beyond control
Conversations we will never have
A scene from another time
Flashing by
My only person
A shadow in the frame

I kinda wish Daniel Rossen was my neighbor, so we could chill by the lake in the evening and have a nice little bonfire. Great song btw
ОтветитьSo beautiful. Thank you for this wonderful song ❤
ОтветитьI didnt recognize it right away, but now I have to say it is absolutely music and art of the highest quality. Its a masterpiece.
ОтветитьThis song just....
ОтветитьBooooo
ОтветитьDaniel Rossen always stands out in my mind when I occasionally get this painful gut feeling, thinking that he might not know how greatly his music has impacted my life for the better. All the tiny moments where I am just moved and the suffering of life is alleviated by his music later gives me a sense of dread that he may not know these moments exist and are of his creation. I think of him struggling to maintain a livelihood and thinking this is all for nothing. And here I am just having my fucking soul obliterated, cleansed, and reformed by his music, and the disconnect hurts my feelings. Like weeping at a painting and the artist is penniless on the streets only to die thinking his work was never appreciated. IT IS APPRECIATED. I have had profound peak experiences listening to Daniel’s music. I remember when Silent Hour/Golden Mile came out, I took mushrooms and blasted it while I laid on a raft in a pool, under the full moonlight watching the clouds rush by. Up On High kicked it off and I had a full blown out of body experience hearing that song for the first time. I was everything, I could not tell where my skin ended and everything else began. I was a stick figure who could feel the paper he’s drawn on to and the table beneath that and the pencil etc. And that was straight up MAGIC. So, I only hope that Daniel lays his head on his pillow at night and doesn’t sweat that his art has improved a humans life out there. Him not knowing is a painful thought with how much i know it.
Ответитьyou are just brilliant

ОтветитьChills. 👏👏👏👏
ОтветитьThis is not music. It’s an intense journey through memories and futures
ОтветитьEverytime I listen to a Daniel Rossen composition, whether it's solo, department of eagles, or grizzly bear, I feel like I'm listening to music for the first time. I never know where his progressions will lead. There's such a sense of tension and fear that gives way to discovery and wonder.
ОтветитьTo exist if hardly at all, returning to the crumbling soil of the Earth, the mantle dancing below us, steam and fire above us, everything, so expansive and beautiful. We are lucky to even know it for a moment, and some of us are even luckier to be able to express that feeling the way you do, through beautiful song writing.
ОтветитьRossen is my favorite song writer of all time
Ответитьbrilliant song - Also, incredible video in reference to the lyrical themes and shadow uses. 🙌
ОтветитьDaniel, if you read this, I have a question I've been meaning to ask you for years: are you familiar with Duncan Browne's music? I think you and him share a common approach. When I hear the complex writing of the songs he used to play on a nylon string guitar, I cannot help but think you are somehow a continuator - in your own beautiful way of course - of his ethos as a classically-trained musician who dared to challenge the codes of pop music writing. This is really obvious to me on a song such as "The Marlet". Hope you'll read this comment! In any case you have my eternal gratitude for your contribution to the world as a musician. My life would seriously not be the same without your music.
ОтветитьI remember going to see Grizzly Bear in the bay area and was fixated on how beautiful Daniel's vocals sounded live - they just blew me away.

This is very very Good! I've just recently discovered Daniel Rossen and I'm amazed with his melodies. Can't wait for the next album. I hope it won't take as long.
ОтветитьYeah. We are alive to be part of this. We win. Love x infinity.
ОтветитьHey same last name, we might be related ♥️ nice song!
ОтветитьThis song's vibe reminds me of Little Brother, which is the song that hooked me to Grizzly Bear catalogue. Guess I found out whose input made me resonate with the music. Excellent craftsmanship. Thank you for this song.
ОтветитьHis album is you belong there is this generations astral weeks , yes, it's that good
Ответитьlow key utterly obsessed
ОтветитьThis music hits the heart ,the soul and the intellect. super stuff.
ОтветитьDaniel. I usually hate guitar-filled songs. And you do this. Thank you for making me hate guitar so much less.
ОтветитьAbsolutamente espetacular!!! Cheers from Brazil!
ОтветитьAwesome song & performance. Now that he’s cloned himself twice over there’ll be no stopping him 💪🏻👍🏻
ОтветитьHow is everything he does so perfect?
Ответитьcurrently in Leeds to see him this man is an inspiration to me he made me have the courage to go busking this man is a genius at what he did with grizzly bear and department of eagles thank you Daniel for making my life just more better :)
Ответить3 am here. Absolutely gorgeous. It might be unfair but I've only liked the Daniel Rossen time of grizzly Bear. I might be wrong , but that is indeed my impression.
Ответить🙂 𝓅𝓇𝑜𝓂𝑜𝓈𝓂
Ответитьlike a hammer
ОтветитьThis is very good and intense
ОтветитьCame across this well shot video via an IG story ad and must say it's one of the best placements ever. Vaguely know of the Grizzly Bear catalog, which I will be exploring in the next few months, but I heard this and "It's A Passage" off the album and was straight away taken back by the skilful and emotive song writing, reminds me very much of Chris Cohen's "Overgrown Path", snips of Fleet Foxes "Crack-Up" album and even early Paul Simon but all the while still being very Daniel Rossen, great work.
ОтветитьBeautiful song and very nice idea for the video. Love the simply good moves
ОтветитьThis fucking song man... You're a genius Daniel, thank you.
ОтветитьBrilliant song and album! my partner and I were completely blown away by your performance in Toronto; we couldn't believe what we were hearing was for real, it was an ethereal experience and we felt so lucky to have been there. Big Mahalo, Daniel!
ОтветитьJust wow
ОтветитьI like this version better than the album version
ОтветитьI usually need some time to get used to music before it starts to effect me on an emotional level. But with this music it took a few seconds of an instagram ad to turn me on to this. It is so beautiful and different. Love it.
Btw. Amazing guitar skills xD
Strong early Genesis & Anthony Phillips vibes here. Great work, Daniel!!
ОтветитьAssolutamente imperdibile! Unico, emozionante... Comprerò presto il tuo album! Grazie di aver condiviso
Absolutely unmissable! Unique, exciting ... I'll buy your album soon! Thanks for sharing
