Section 31 Review: Dark, Joyless and Dreadful

It's gay humor mixed with alittle 🤏 man insults hating! Not Star Trek!!!!!!!!!!!!

The demoralization continues

A month later opinion.
This looked like a pilot episode and less of a movie.
The budget was practically non existent and felt like it was just a 3 location filming.
The acting feeling off didn't seem to be the fault of the actors but the director and time constraints.
If anything I somehow found each actor to have their own charm but rushed and through a non polished script.
The whole San and godsend plot wasn't a bad one but the execution yet again was rushed to the point it didn't had buildup and impact.
And it didn't had the most important thing star trek has for each episode, a lesson to sharpen the mind and teach critical thinking.
But I also feel like this is a gem in the rough, had it been given more time and more refining could easily be its own thing standing on its own feet.
Between this and woketrek I would take this every time.

Seriously Folks, It's not Nearly as Bad as People are making it to be.
Think about it:
It wasn't the Enterprise... It wasn't Kirk or Picard who saved the Federation....
It was A Garbage Scow,A Crew of Misfits, And A Doll!

I remember there was a time when I thought Star Trek the Motionless Picture was the worst ST ever had to offer. How naive I was. At least then movie studios learned from their mistakes and course corrected (the next movie was Wrath of Khan which was great). Now they just keep digging deeper somehow expecting they'll hit gold in their backyard pit instead of just more mud.

What happened? The lady is hideous. The content is awful. Who is their target audience? Dreadful

Section 31: you can't polish a turd. Empress Sato was an excellent Mirror Universe female villain. This.... more unwatchable crap with the name 'Star Trek' slapped on it.

This is Evil Twin Trek right down the line. The woman is the opposite of Picard or Sisko. I liked them, I don’t hate this character: she is insane to me. Her stated motives do not add up to anything but a shallow, one dimensional stereotype characterization. I’m just not interested. 😜🙄

It was none of those things. It was fun, action oriented and you clearly didn't get the story.

Klutzman must be some world-class politician/ass kisser . He has no idea what Star Trek is yet is able to hang on to his job as overseer of this garbage, DISCO, Short Treks and seasons 1 & 2 of Picard.

The trailer should have been the voice of Georgiou saying something like Personal Log Stardate .... End Log Security Log Code 31 -Lambda .... Just when I thought of .... Log end Hand places down a communicator to pick up a S31 Black communicator and the whole scene should only show the room shes in her silhouette but never her face maybe a drink shes having basically in the shadows...
Enterprise S31 with Reed and his former commanding officer makes sense since at that time Starfleet was having a more human military +Science/exploration vibe going on until the federation is founded....

I was hoping this would be the end of bad trek, then I remembered that there's another season of Strange New Worlds... 🤢🤮

The fact that no-one seems to like it, be it New Trek or Classic Trek fans, probably tells you that this was made simply because Michelle Yeoh's character was popular for a while.
The film seems to achieve one thing: Star Trek V and Nemesis are no longer the worst Star Trek films, and from the sounds of it, Section 31 has taken the dubious crown very easily...

The sad thing is, a Section 31 film could have been great. Borrow from the groundwork that DS9 laid and the Operative in Serenity; a "I'm a monster but I'm doing the necessary things, creating a perfect world" ideology and get the setting right, perhaps even in the DS9, Dominion War era and it could have been incredible. All the ingredients were there but someone seems to have done their utmost to f**k it up as hard as possible.

What we got feels like a cynical attempt to earn a quick payday, which has backfired stupendously. Even Yeoh's reputation seems to have taken a hit.

You're absolutely 100% wrong. You're a Star Trek snob. It was great.

Something like this could be interesting, if it were played like DS-9's in Ihe Pale Moonlight, with a Federation Midgrade Officer having to adjust her/his ethical expectations . . . but that would not have been very original.

This probably parallels many people's real-world experience who worked for the USG over the years, people have very idealistic expectations in a complex world. But DS-9 got there first.

What might be interesting in a Section 31 story might be an unrestricted duty Star Fleet officer getting Section 31 to take a more moral approach, while accomplishing a mission. Sort of "getting to Kirk" becoming someone who bends rules while upholding a moral code . . . .

Yet another all time low achievement for Kurtzman Trek. Well as Discovery fans say that Discovery was written for a progressive audience and not actual Star Trek fans what in the name of @#$%^& what audience was this written for??

It was worse than Star Trek 5, Nemesis, and the Spock’s Brain episode combined. “Brain, brain, brain what is brain!?” It was bad.

Of course, one can't hear some of what's being said at times because these guys are, you know, Section 31, being secretive and all. Allegedly. 🙄 🙄 🙄
