Dr. James Adams is Director of the Autism/ Asperger’s Research Program at Arizona State University (ASU). Working in conjunction with physicians, nutritionists, biochemists, and others, his research is focused on the causes and treatment of Autism across the lifespan.
Dr. Adams believes the addition of research based biomedical therapy to treat individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can improve the effectiveness of ongoing educational, therapeutic, and behavioral interventions.
Dr. James has a PhD in Materials Engineering, but for the last 20 years has focused his research on the biological causes of Autism and how to treat it. He has published over 200 peer reviewed scientific articles, including over 50 on Autism. He has led many clinical trials including nutritional supplementation, microbiota transplant, and detoxification.
In this live chat, we will discuss the results of the randomized placebo-controlled 3-month vitamin/mineral study on children and adults with Autism which showed improvements in the nutritional and metabolic status, methylation, glutathione, oxidative stress, sulfation, ATP, NADH, and NADPH. The supplement group also found significantly greater improvements than the placebo group on the Parental Global Impressions-Revised (PGI-R) scale, suggesting that a vitamin/mineral supplement is a reasonable adjunct therapy to consider for most children and adults with ASD.
