I've never been to a dojo or gym where people were so disrespectful. Our whole community is about learning new and exciting ways to do shit. Granted, I've also never seen anyone with more than half a brain stem take a rooted stance start knocking out kata in a ring, but my point is the whole premise here is off.

I don't think anyone truly understands the effectiveness of martial arts when used how they were intended. The martial arts we see today is watered down at best compared to how it used to be. Martial arts were created for great violence. It's literally in the name. Nobody trains it the way it's meant to he trained, so it's become soft

I've been in karate for nearly 9 years and I can say that this is effective. Having been in multiple competitions and getting my 1st dan, I have had many fights. Pretty much the way we learn is by repeating moves enough that it becomes second nature and we don't have to think about how we fight. Also if you want to see what moves he's using in full, look up "seipai kata bunkai". Could vary depending on the style but it's actually a kata that a practice in myself.
