MRA's use one study to spout the rhetoric about violence. The study equates throwing a tissue box to a punch in the face that knocks out teeth. This is the bullshit they spew.

@GirlonFilm1969 What do you mean by "There is no gender. Only sex."? Secondly, how does the genesis of the two words matter? In my eyes, the words "My (insert gender) is superior/more correct than (insert opposite gender) because of XYZ" is a bigoted statement, regardless of whomever states it.

@Anghellik9 The genesis of misandry is a backlash. Gender is a social construction. Sex is not. I don't know where you're going with this bigotry thing. It has nothing to do with any of it.

Then you responded saying that there is no misandry, and that the word is a backlash against feminism. I'm not sure what your point was when you initially responded to me, seeing as I was using gender in the biological sense, and effectively saying "bigotry is bad regardless of who is doing it".

@Anghellik9 Gender is a social construction. Sex is biological. The genesis of misandry as it's used by MRA's, which is the context, is used as a backlash against feminism. That group isn't for men's rights, they're more about being misogynist, rabid anti-feminists. Feminism is used to backlash movements and the MRM is just another one of them.

@Anghellik9 misogyny isn't bigotry in the strictest sense. It's a part of the male dominated world view that takes the construct 'gender' and applies value to each gender. However, it goes deeper because it also applies value judgements to sex as well. Many feminists want to remove the construction of gender. Gender is someone applying a value judgement to a persons sex. It creates what we know as gender or in this case feminine and masculine.
