The bar graph displays the gender composition in the British higher educational institutions in three time periods. Also the graph considers if the students were taking a part-time or a full-time education.

I'm little confused about two things.first one is the meaning of "tapering off" (at the last line of third paragraph) it means to become gradually weaker or smaller although we should say that it continues rising to an almost identical level ....... ????!!!!!
The second thing is that the bar mentioned thousands while you used a numbers around million in your writing why is that ?

Hello. Can I use a pencil instead of pen for my IELTS writing test?

The bar graph provides information about the numbers of men and women in post graduate education between 1970 and 1990 divided into full-time and part-time.

Overall, numbers of men have undergone a slight decrease in part-time education compared to women whose numbers have increased significantly. whereas, their numbers in the full-time education are almost equal to each other.

At the beginning of the period, 100 thousand of men took part in the part-time education opposed to less than 800 thousand of women. After a decade, both of them were almost the same at about 800 thousand people. At the end of the period, however, the figures of women increased dramatically and jumped to about 1100 woman while men stayed the same.

On the other hand, the people who choosed to join the full-time education were almost the same over the whole period. They were just about 50 thousand for both men and women in 1970s. And ending with more than 200 thousand.

I have a question, if my structure in paragraphs 3 and 4 is divided into men and women

The points that matterd to me the most is to spend a minute before attempting to answer and understandthe graph, think about the sentence before writing it, also use synonyms, finally utilize complex sentences.
