My Grandfather was a paratrooper. He told me a lot of stories about being in Germany. I cant imagine what these men endured after hearing his stories. I will never forget his mental toughness that he passed on to all of us.

I have never heard this story but it is incredible. The actors of the mini series definitely took their roles very seriously and did a fantastic job portraying those heroes.

I honestly think it stopped being a job and started being a “passion project” for a lot of those actors.

Sadly, American children hate veterans. Don’t say the Pledge of Allegiance if they attend public schools. Are being raised by single mothers who would rather have purple hair, burn the American flag, worship communist such as Bernie, AOC, and Warner. As seen in the show, by the time we were liberating Germans inside Germany, there were many children on the Depression, who then went on to be children of wartime rationing, who could have been nearly as old as ten, and still having never tasted chocolate. I think the little boy depicted couldn't have been older than 5 or 6, but still. The ways in which the lives of lower class Germans changed after the fall of the Reich is immeasurable, and the symbolism of that, in something as simple and sweet as chocolate...

All I'm saying is that sometimes humans get things right, and making magic out of misery is often one of those things.

My grandfather said the same thing when they went back to Holland. All of the kids knew what they did! Canadian, Seaforth Highlanders. He said it was so special!

And this is why America is a literal miracle. Sure we have our own problems to deal with and sort out, but compared to the rest of the world we are the best country on the face of the planet. Other countries like Sweden might have better education than America, which is most likely true, but here in America we have the closest thing to freedom that there is. America England would’ve fallen the USSR would’ve fallen. Help came from America to Europe into the Pacific, but once they take out America, where will people run to? People remember that hope and it’s one of the reasons why they are thankful in their homeland and it is why people from countries like Venezuela run to America. They don’t stay in Mexico and they don’t run to Canada. They run here because America is the land of freedom and opportunity.

Whoever came up with that idea.. is incredible. I bet a lot wanted to go back. Just to get some closure. This probably helped heal them so much. Thank you for this. The same people we rely on to keep our freedom, we should give the exact same to our vets. They should be taken care of for life. That has always bothered me.

Y'all calling Americans are intervening everywhere but it is also because of these brave soldiers that the world we live in today can be at peace. They were the best actors for this role dude… seriously.. I don’t think it could’ve been done better. Best show of all time about the greatest generation of all time. Thank you to all who saved the world during that time, you all were/are, heroes, in every sense of the word. 🫡

I had grandfather's on both sides of this war, 1 in the Para's and the other was a Luftwaffe pilot. Neither spoke about it, but had respect for each other with no animosity. I miss them both, but because of their impact i joined the military.
