when I think of retirement I instantly think of the movie "About Schmidt". Right or wrong, I think a "clean break" is the way to go. Great to remain friends with the people you worked with but put the business itself in the rearview

Coming up on my year one too, it’s been mostly awesome to let the stress go. Took me about 4 months to get my sleep consistent, and for my body to let go of 35 years of work stress. You don’t realize how much you are carrying around until the source is gone. Lost 30 pounds, yoga and walking made me much fitter than I thought possible. My tip is to try new things, say yes and give it a go. The menu of experiences is unlimited!

I quit my job and retired myself 2 weeks ago! Stress was too much I felt like the pressure would push into a stroke or heart attack at 63yrs. I’ve worked for 45 yrs and had enough! Retirement is great so far. Budgeting is very important because I love to travel. I’m looking forward to a long life of retirement with enjoying family grandkids and traveling. Celebrate everyday of life!

You hit the nail on the head with leaving the work social club. I'm not retired yet, but when I "retired" from the military, I left behind 95% of my social circle. A few stayed in touch, but I had to rebuild my social life, which wasn't easy. I'm a little wiser now as I head into retirement within the next 2 years, but it'll still be a challenge.

Good Morning, I say that I'm "Practicing for Retirement". I started with this company in 1983. Fresh out of college. Worked in Sales my whole carrier. Worked out of my home the whole time. Before it was "Normal". That independence has the chance to develop many hobbies along the way. I have about a year left. I subscribed and will follow along with your knowledge and retirement experience

I've got 5.75" years to retirement (67). You're making me think about the things I will want to do once I get to slow down and watch what's going on around me. Ignore the media, watch what's going on outside! I can start planning now. And even add in little parts of my plans to ease into it. Too many people retire and don't have any interests outside of work. Some of them don't last too long. I plan on lasting a LONG time! As long as I have a flexible plan.

At 58 and a 2.5 to 3 hour daily work commute, I'm so ready to throw in the working towel. I have been planning for retirement since I was 16. So far, it has been a great journey and I'm financially ready...2 very good pensions, hefty 410K, IRA, future SS income and a younger (not so good) working professional wife. As for friends, I have my two and four legged family members. I also have plenty of interest and hobbies. That's good enough for me.

Almost two years retired. I can't think of ONE thing that isn't GREAT. Not a day goes by that I don't say out loud - GOD I love NOT working anymore. You are so right about not being in the work "social club". I was surprised how fast we stopped even texting back and forth. It's life, but a reality.

Retired at 59 and 10 years later, I'm happy as a clam. I did take a part-time job for the first three years but since then, volunteering at a local food bank once, sometimes twice a week. It's fantastic !!! I'm fortunate that I have three buddies from high school that are still in the area and retired too. We meet once a week at a local bar, still go to concerts together and text each other daily. I still exercise daily and that is a huge help in keeping my mind and body going strong.

Thank you for your videos mate.. If there is one thing I have learned in recent months it is to remain calm, especially when it comes to investments in cryptocurrencies. Learn not to sell in a panic when everything goes down and not to buy in euphoria when everything goes up. I advise y'all to forget predictions and start making a good profit now because future valuations are all speculations and guesses. Bitcoin going up is good for the entire market and you can not tell if it's going bearish or bullish. I Would say More emphasis should be put into day trading as it is less affected by the unpredictable nature of the market.I have made over 9btc from day trading with Nadia Kathleen insights and signals. in less than one month, this is one of the best medium to backup your assets incase it goes bearish..

Retired 11 years now at 73. Grew up as a hippie, believed in living the simple life so didn't focus a lot on saving money. But realizing I needed to have some sort of plan to get me to my little piece of paradise to retire too. I decided to eliminate a lot of wasted time over the years working my way there.... by going to paradise and getting a job there! Enjoying all those extra years immersed in the beauty and abundance of Vancouver Island was the best decision I ever made. Land was cheap enough that anyone with a steady job could afford to buy into the market. Natures bounty and tight Community networks helped us all prepare for and survive two economic crashes, pandemics and natural disasters. My pensions are defined benefit programs and are indexed to inflation. I'm still an old hippie at heart and live a simple life. Staying busy isn't a problem. I build guitars and other instruments for a hobby ( ya gotta have a passion folks ) and I am helping some locals teens build an airplane. Spend more time with younger folks! It will help you stay connected with the younger generation and you can help teach them different skills. It will make you feel younger too!

I’ve been retired for almost three years. I do miss the office interaction, but much of that was lost during COVID anyway. I miss a few coworkers, but for the most part I don’t miss most of them. Getting rid of the stress was the best part of retirement. I don’t get bored easily and have no troubles keeping myself busy.

I was so looking forward to retirement. We sold our house in CT and moved to FL. It’s beautiful here. But….
I worked for one more year remotely and retired at the end of 2020 at age 62.
In 2022 my body just started falling apart-foot, stomach, teeth, back…
It’s been a real struggle for me to enjoy life but I’m doing the best I can.
I’m thinking by the time I’m 70 I’ll be good as new.

I've always said, no matter how long or hard you worked at a company, within a week or two your name never comes up again. I laugh when people love to give the impression their company needs them, lol. All these companies go on just fine after you're gone. There could be a small bump for them, but they recover just fine.

I have been contemplating this very deeply over the past few months and I now find it not to be acceptable. I have other passions that I have been putting to the side due to work time requirements. Time for me to retire. I will not look back with any regrets.

Last year I retired from being a high school teacher. Closure was very important to me. At my retirement party I addressed the faculty to tell them how lucky the kids were to have them and that I felt comfort knowing the school was in good hands. I tried to acknowledge everyone by saying something positive about them. I wanted to leave with grace. I thought that would be the end of it but after the school year began; I felt compelled to make one final visit. I selected the day before Thanksgiving break. It was very enjoyable. I don't regret it and now I'm free.
