We are surrounded by ICE driving fuddles in our rural village. I find it difficult to keep a straight face when a guy driving a vehicle with a tank full of liquid explosive tells me our EV is a fire hazard.
ОтветитьAnyone who is stupid enough to fall for those negative "tests" probably isn't smart enough to drive at all, let alone an EV.
ОтветитьI thought the "E" stood for "Exaggerate".
Mind you, I get 800 miles per KWh, and only pay thruppence a year for electricity.
I suggest anyone thinking of buying an EV has a look at the posting of Lee the Mac Master who has a Porsche Tycan EV just for a another view of EV ownership then make up their own mind. Dave , would it be wrong to say you are biased against ICE cars because you think they are highly polluting ?
ОтветитьOne of the first solo trips I took in my Tesla was about 730 miles (one way). Not quite 800 miles, but close. I spent a lot of time planning my route and charging stops, but finally just got in the car, entered my destination in the nav system, and drove. That was the beginning and the end of range anxiety. I now worry more about staying awake that long. Fortunately, I can nap while charging which is hard to do in a gasoline queue, I'm from the USA so one-day trips like that aren't unusual.
ОтветитьWe should all be free to make our own minds up, and not be forced to purchase an EV by government mandate. Isn't that what the majority of people would think is fair and just, if you want an EV or ICE it should be the consumer NOT the politicians decision in a democracy.
Or if the government has the courage let's put this to a referendum as it affects every driver in the UK . The answer is they won't because they know what the outcome will be.
I’ve seen nothing but EV and hybrid adverts for the last couple of years. If encouraging the public through financial incentives ,threatening an end to ICE vehicles and financially penalising manufacturers still doesn’t attain the sales target for EVs…. Then maybe a large number of people don’t want or rate them.
ОтветитьI believe we will also so a rapid swing to EV ownership as cars 7 or so years old become available, and more people realise that they can charge at home. Doing a recent 400 mile trip needed only a 12 minute stop for the car, but longer for me to have a coffee and food! Tesla also make this very easy!
ОтветитьSo the answer to fudle, is a government mandate?
Ответить1200 miles in single trip with two fuel stops! Just after Hurricane Irma I had to travel from New York to Florida, no flights and no hotels after Virginia due to the whole of Florida going North. Couldn't leave the Interstate, as the National Guard blocked the exits and the hard shoulders were full of refugees! So we, two drivers, had to do it in one day. A bit of an epic adventure. That aside, it's a bit of an aberration, I'm a Tesla owner and I get really annoyed by all the FUD, I usually have a physical needs break before the car does. Love your content Dave.
ОтветитьI hope one day Dave takes on comes to Kent we have so many slow destination chargers out of action for approx a year and damaged at shopping supermarkets especially in the Medway Towns, we need more people like Dave. Mick L
ОтветитьWow you think the mass media is that powerful to stop people buying ev's . Think its more do with the inconvenience and cost , plus of course 20 % of housholds cannot charge at home which increases to 50% in london see office of national statistics
ОтветитьActually Dave, the real enemy of EVs is people like you who pump out lies and misinformation in order to fool consumers into believing they're much more capable than they really are. You're a disgrace, an absolute disgrace.
ОтветитьI drove over 1,000 miles in less than 24hrs crossing Europe between Calais (actually Manchester Chunnel) & Hirstal top of Denmark for a ferry to Norway. I did intend a hotel stop midway in Netherlands but surprise local festival booked out everywhere, so we pushed on. Where we conducted a 3week family/dog holiday touring scenic routes South of Trondheim, about 5k miles. Fantastic, wonderful & easy cost less than £300 in fuel (superchargers) in our amazing Tesla Model Y RWD (260mile range).
ОтветитьFinally dave is talking about the media/internationalists or are they called central bankers :)
Ответитьif channels like this would just clearly understand and share that the C02 fear is just nonsense, but still ev's etc are great...
ОтветитьI just watched the roaming radfords doing the nc500 and that video put me off a ev with all the agg of charging in the middle of nowhere and the charger not working and short range
ОтветитьSeveral times from the uk to southern Spain
ОтветитьI often wonder why those saying spending 20 or 30 minutes topping up a car every three hours believe it to be so much of an issue. Why the rush, whats wrong with prioritising the human rather than the car and getting a bite to eat or drinking a cuppa without indegestion. Next they'll be saying it's mandatory to take an empty bottle on all trips so you can have a wee on the go, or that the traffic light regulations are infringing their right to just keep going.
ОтветитьI've definitely done 1000 miles in a single trip on a motorcycle, it was for the Iron Butt Rally though. I've still got the T Shirt.
ОтветитьLongest drive I've every made one way without an overnight stop was 900 miles and honestly around the 600 mile point, it was a careless decision to push through a 15 hour drive without rest.
This argument about lost time on road trips due to charging reminds me that those making the argument are putting themselves or others in harms way unless they are switching drivers, and if so, that highlights the problem: it's a niche argument using a niche case and comparing it to a niche experience with an ICE car . Another one that comes to mind is cost of ownership versus the anectodal 80 year old toyota they claim to be driving.
EVs are the future and it is evolving. Just need the sociopolitical environment to be supportive of the push.
Dave, I think this was your best video so far. Very well put together. I think I know some of the FUD and Clickbate channels you were referring to. 👍🏻
ОтветитьGood video - glad it’s not a Tesla Fanboy oriented one this time… nice analysis Dave
ОтветитьI drove Lands End to John O'Groats in 17 hours in my EV all by myself. I could have knocked an hour or so off that but my bladder needed more stops than the car needed. Normally I would never do a journey like that but it did shut the idiots up. In a car with a longer range and faster charging ( of which there are now many) and with a co-driver I think in the Summer 14 - 15 hours is possible, even for a non-Tesla
ОтветитьUncertainty, doubt and lies. Tobacco and fossil fuels have been doing this for decades.
Ответить546:miles after a day driving my hgv just stops for food etc
ОтветитьPlease change that hideous background
ОтветитьLet people believe what they want. I know what’s better for me and I’m not interested in convincing anybody else
ОтветитьWestern Media, Influencers and Politicians are killing their very own EV industry with all the EV negativity and bad policies.
Then complain why Western EV industry is lagging behind China.
I think we don't people enough credit for being able to sift through the chaff. I watch the EV hating channels you refer to and subscribe to them. Armed with all that negativity, I purchased a 3yr old EV. I love it and wouldn't go back. I can only speak for myself, but I can watch something for its entertainment value and not be dissuaded by it. I like to see balance. When I see constant positive coverage for EV's or ICE, that's when I'm sceptical.
ОтветитьI don't have any FUD over EV's - at some point I will buy one. I like the idea of their performance. Reasons to delay are financial (high depreciation in real costs), high repair costs as not enough independent specialist garages currently to keep the costs down. Also range, even a Tesla with ~300 mile range - general recommendation is not to charge above 80% and not less than 10% - so 30% range not recommended to be used (90 miles) so it is really 210 mile range. I think this is fine for day-to-day use but not city to city and return the same day - need to charge / takes more time. I watched an encouraging video from Edd China showing the repair of welded contactors on an EV battery (rather than replacing the complete battery) - that was good but we need more expertise like this. Probably 5 years to get more of this in place...
ОтветитьDriven from Newcastle to Barcelona in one go a few times. 1200 miles. Stop for Ferry and fuel stops. First time no Autoroutes as there were none. Also drove back again.
ОтветитьDave, really loved this talk today. The twist at the end, where car manufacturers are having fight their own FUD is brilliant.
ОтветитьYep, absolutely nobody does that kind of trip, except for all those in the comments below!
Fear works both ways, as you know, when you tell us that 'legacy cars' are out the door!
No such thing as 'legacy cars'. Just a throw away term thought up by someone with tunnel vision.
The longest trip I have done without staying overnight and only stopping to refuel was around 1100 miles from Estonia to Germany. That was a horrible experience, never again.
Ответить3,513 views so far come on guys give a 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьYou have far more confidence in MSM than I do, they lie pretty well all the time even if sometimes it is by omission and coupled with 80% of UK MSM being controlled by 3 billionaires and hence follows whatever agenda their ultra wealth owners want.
ОтветитьI've driven 3x Kirkwall to/from Guildford in one hit apart from the necessary fuel and pee breaks. That's around 750 miles plus a ferry, about 14 hours non stop, wouldn't consider it now except in extremis.
ОтветитьI thing that has changed in the "repair" market for new ICE cars (EV too - but it does not matter - read on). Since around 2020 new cars have been made with a lot of plastic in the engine bay - clip on air vents, recirculation tubing, air intakes and so on. With the rapid changes in temperature in an ICE engine bay these become brittle over time, usually about the time the warrantee expires. These become very difficult to replace as sections cannot be replaced as they become distorted meaning a new part won't fit. EV cars - don't get the large changes in temperature which means the cheap nasty plastic components don't degrade - of course they are still cheap and nasty with certain makes.
The second issue that is beginning to become obvious in the repair market is that the constant "my ICE car did 10^45 miles and is still going" on old cars is a thing of the past. Old cars were over engineered and could last a long time if lots of money was used to look after and regularly serviced well. New cars are made to the accountants requirements that it needs only to last the warrantee, with wet-belt for the cam, difficult to replace components that require the engine removed and taken apart and so on.
The latest round of new ICE cars will give themselves a bad name as they are not going to last.
Most people r like sheep brain dead i have my own mind and brain and i have seen more good then bad about ev this is y im getting 1 in march
ОтветитьI see FUDLES = Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt, Lies, Exaggeration, Specificity.
Fear = dont buy that EV as they will have no value in quick time.
Uncertainty = We don't like the future prospects of EV against Climate Change
Doubt = Make people not see the future ROI on a huge investment when a cheap ICE can be afforded now.
Lies = obvious fake stories made out to be truth, think BEV fires compared with non-BEV fires.
Exaggeration = charging times are too long and thus charging stations will be full leaving people unable to get in and out quickly.... yeah right.
Specificity = Target a specific group of people with pricey EVs and infer in general that EVs are to expensive while cheaper options are ignored for the masses.
By constantly creating these excitable videos you simply tend to continue this silly antagonism against electric vehicles . You are effectively creating the publicity the opponents crave and which ultimately funds their videos.
ОтветитьBrilliant.. Well explained Dave
ОтветитьDeny, defend, depose
