half of this was mental. Sure the methanol flames are invisible, but if you're on fire, then you're burning, and you're not burning invisible. Clothes, hair, tires, the car, all of that stuff has visible fire.

So there was certainly methanol flames around, and people felt the heat, but nobody actually burned, or you would have seen them burn.

It's crazy how safety measures in racing have evolved.

This is literally why they have a protocol that you to hit the deck in the case of methanol fires because just running around screaming and flailing your arms can be confusing to a crew who may just assume you're panicked, but hitting the deck shows everyone involved that you need to be doused immediately with water (as long as there isn't also gas involved as water will have no effect) or a dry chemical extinguisher (which is your standard ABC extinguisher).

NASCAR currently uses gasoline with a small amount of ethanol. Indycar as of 2007 uses a mixture of ethanol and gasoline. F1 uses fuel with a push towards Biofuels in the future. Drag Racing still uses Methanol.

Just to inform y’all about why they burn alcohol and not gas, lemme explain, when you start a bonfire, you see orange flames. And the reason you say orange flames is because of the suit or soot from the wood. Any fire that has orange flames, a.k.a. color that is more noticeable, especially in daylight, it’s considered a dirty burn meaning the burn is not efficient at all, whereas in alcohol fire, for example, hand sanitizer burns damn near invisibly, is a very efficient burn hence why it’s such a lighter color so a yellow orange or red burn is not efficient, and the invisible color, a.k.a. bright, bright blue, it is extremely efficient, which is why it is used in racing cars, because of how efficient it is when it comes to it being burnt. Race, cars, drag series, track cars will all use alcohol-based fuels because it burns so much more efficiently than gasoline. Any other type of combustible liquid at Hell if you think that diesel is an efficient gas burn and you need to seek help.

I don’t know who this guy is that’s doing this video but he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about nobody’s car backfired and ignited the flames. Ricks car was running during his pitstop, and when the Fueller pulled out the nozzle there was supposed to be a shut off valve and it didn’t work so as Rick was sitting there with the car, running the fuel Bude all over the engine, which ignited it and onto Rick he said that he could see the fuel liquid coming down his visor on his helmet and he knew he was in trouble. That’s when he got out of the car by himself and ran while he was holding his breath to try to find someone to put him out and every time he went up to somebody they would catch on fire and run away. It’s finally my dad picked up the fire extinguisher and put my brother out.
