I pushed the Thimble Sholes light house 2 weeks ago.

That's mortar, not grout. You may need to repoint your brickwork. Highly recommend that you do NOT paint or seal those bricks. Concertrate on making the bones of the structure so it'll last another 100 years, ignore the cosmetic bullshit. Spend your money on ventilation, insulation, and weatherproofing.

This is a really cool place. You are lucky to be able to do this. Hats off to you!

I was always told when you're in an old location and paint is thick and flaking off like that then it has lead in it.

You can get excellent sealer for brickwork that dries clear

That was a fascinating video tour; I loved Rich’s amazing, positive attitude to the condition of Wolf Lighthouse; to a laymen it looks like a lost cause, but to a restoration expert it is well worth saving… I am wondering how much to restore and how many hours (because it appears to be astronomical) and what condition is the pillar the lighthouse sits on
