Norman Ohler's new book Blitzed', is a great book and incite on pre Nazi Weimar republic Germany and the drug fueled Hitler and the inhabitants of Nazi time Germany as well. In the 20's, Berlin was THE party city in the world for cocaine and heroin was legal wothout prescription. I had only recently heard about this aspect of German history. The way our history portrays the rise of the Nazis always seemed incomplete to me. I don't think I ever remember a single mainstream documentary that covers how degenerate German society was during this time. Not that ours wasn't, but add in the demoralization of being on the losing side of the Great War and the rise of a radical counterbalance was inevitable.
