Let me remove one red flag from the mother's statement. She said she had the instinct to call 911 immediately. You asked what parent wouldn't automatically do that. The answer is that for parents in a situation like Malehya and Daniel, who were probably enjoying illicit substances more often than the average parent, who were perhaps making such illicit substances available to others, calling in the cops would not be the first thing they'd want to do. First they'd run madly around the property calling the kids' names, venturing into the trees to places their kids enjoyed going. It might take half an hour or longer of fruitless search before one of them said "We've got to call 911."

Having family members "using" these people are secretive and neglected EVERYTHING sadly including their children is typical behavior.

If that's Daniel's childhood home, he must be familiar with that terrain and mught know of caves or hidden spots, drains, crevasses....he can read a map of the area.

This is a very troubling case and I live in Pictou County, about 30 km from the search area, so it's a hot topic among locals. I'd bet that these kids never wandered off and certainly didn't enter into the woods very often, if ever. If they had, why couldn't the dogs pick up a scent? And if these kids had been attacked by animals, the dogs certainly would have picked up a scent of blood. No, these kids were never in the woods... probably taken away to another remote location... by whom? I also believe that they are dead.

As for Friday morning.... forget it. I think that the kids were taken somewhere on Thursday, at night by, possibly their mother and step father and were killed. They returned home, got tanked or high, slept and woke up late and made up all this crap about the kids wandering away in the morning.  

The mother and her partner have a lot more explaining to do, particularly during those missing 48 hours prior to their mysterious "disappearance". Lastly, I don't trust the RCMP in Nova Scotia at all.

Daphne is absolutely the great aunt to Jack and Lilly. Her brother is the biological grandfather of the kids.

She is not seeking attention lol and I think that it's not cool to discredit a distraught family member.

Something u r missing, how often do u have ,in missing kids cases, 2 kids that are left together and being so young making it easy to subdue them, would the people that took children, the.01%, have taken the children if they were accompanied by a smaller child?
Stats are so low on the probability scale for 2 kids to be kidnapped together, because 2 kids lost together or left on their own, is so low

I'm in the middle of no where and am going through waist high weeds, looking for my 2 turkey hens who went off to nest.

We follow those trails, my child , me and my 11 yr old small dogs.

Mine is 8, at 6 he could cover a couple miles barefooted. He has. You get them callous on your feet and don't feel it. I go barefoot except in winter.

At 4 mine could change his own pull up. He only wore it at night. He would flop that thing off every morning.

Hi Jessica, I’m in Canada, thanks for covering this case. In Canada the RCMP are equivalent to the FBI. They are always tight lipped. By the way the😮 investigation is going, I’m pretty sure they are suspecting foul play. The house was full of drug paraphernalia and the Mom was told to remove the baby. The baby was taken by the CAS ( equivalent to CPS ) I feel that neglect lead to their demise and they panicked and hid their bodies. This case will be solved. It’s different in Canada. Even court is not live for people. You can attend but you won’t see it otherwise. The pics inside the court are sketches. We also have no death penalty. Life is usually 25 years.
