Something you forgot to mention (even though this is 9 months old) is SmileCode, an open-source homebrew program for the 3ds that lets you code games in C#/C++, altho you can only do 2d games

It really blew my mind when I bought what was called a NEW 3DS and somehow the shop was closing down like a year later. They shouldn't close down the store until a couple years after they stop being sold.

I'm pretty sure there exist tools that allow you to make something with LOVE2d and then get it running on a 3ds, I might actually look more into it myself

Is there an application that can edit application game rating so I can lock it behind the parental controls PIN? That way I can prevent access to file browsers/editors and such so nobody can break my 3DS

for 3ds emulation, look into "New Super Ultimate Injector for 3DS". it's peak if your system of choice is supported.

Ps1 games via retroarch are quite playable, i have recently installed it to play Ape Escape, which is a nostalgic game to me. Plays pretty well after some tinkering with the settings. Quite impressed with that, but it requires the new 3ds. Will have to try more nostalgic games.

Doom 3 Can be played in browsers... dont know if the 3ds browser can, or maybe a modded browser

What do you mean by “old” 3ds models? I have a 3ds XL, is that considered “old” because they’re not the “new” 3ds’s? Or do you literally mean older models. 3ds names are so confusing

Another good mod is Yo-kai Watch Blasters++! I’m a HUGE and I mean HUGE fan of Yo-kai Watch (Like consider it my favorite game) and Blasters++ just adds more game to play.

You can totally play the Super Mario 64 Decomp port on old 3DS and it runs perfectly fine with no stutters. You just gotta pick uo the newest version

If there's one specific reason you see a ton of homebrew once Nintendo finishes supporting a console, it's because homebrew devs can work in (relative) peace without exploits being patched in constant firmware updates. Nintendo actually did release one post-eShop closure update for 3DS to try and kill homebrew, but devs found a way around it in under 24 hours. lol

For gameboy advance is better to inject the titles wich is almost running them natively.

There's a mod for Majora's Mask that fixes certain gameplay elements and restores changes to something more faithful to the N64 version.
