Currently, with how toxic social media is, I recommend everyone to quit it. I'd say ban kids altogether, no on under 18, but I don't think that's possible.

5 to 7 year olds can't drive cars, allowed to go the shop or anywhere by themselves, yet some parents think they have the psychological ability to comprehend the dangerous aspect of phones, social media and awareness of same. I get that technology as a parent to a degree like an ipad for school work etc is reasonable but children are children for a reason.

The biggest problem is that many adults are too brainwashed to understand how bad social media really is, and they don't want to interact with their own children.

One of our kids flipped their lid and went down a dark path because we wouldn't let them have social media before high school. Peer pressure is not endured equally.

Social media should be banned outright.

Porn should be banned outright.

And stop constantly using laptops in all lessons left and right. School work should be done with textbook, paper and pen/pencil. Stop teaching "skills" at school, teach old good knowledge. Yes, facts may be boring initially, but school-age is the best time for humans to learn facts they will remember all their life and they will connect them into their life theory... Skills get out of date, knowledge does not.
Stop using written tests as only way to evaluate the kids, they should be able to speak and tell the story - no, not with the help of PowerPoint!!!
Make the kids write essays - at home and at school. They should know how to express themselves.

Parents, give your kids books, not smartphones. Include them in chores, that's their entertainment.

If you have to give them access to the internet, make a common computer room where they physically go to to access the things they need or to learn stuff with, and are shared among them.

They would have the kid version at that age. Smartphones, hell any actual phone isnt a toy. As long as there are coloring books, crayons etc thats what they'd get even before those expensive kid version tablets etc. As for older kids teens, you can get one as soon as you turn 16 & get a DL & job to help pay your bill
