In 1969 I participated in protests against cars in the city centre, wearing a long dress and flowers in my hair. That was time well spent. 😀
ОтветитьBrilliant review - thank you
ОтветитьBearing in mind the Netherlands is flat, no hills to speak of, it's not surprising their ebikes don't compare with those suited for the hills of Cornwall, the Peak District, Lake District & Scotland.
Quite a few years ago now, a Dutch company named after a Big bird was fitting direct drive motors, which were great on flat routes: Their representative was extolling their virtue to a bunch of us old reprobates - partickly their ability to generate when travelling downhill.
Some of us tried one & it was like pedalling through treacle; the best bit being that when you pedalled downhill you slowed down because the thing didn't regenerate when freewheeling - only when you pedalled.
♥️🥰👍🙏
ОтветитьI have another 'lease'-e-bike and I love it. I am 76 and biking every day. Just here and there, everytime new biking-roads. Trough the crowded cities and in no time down the green meadows.
ОтветитьI loved this! those bikes look so good.
ОтветитьNicely presented. Thanks.
ОтветитьWhat a civilized country.
ОтветитьThe chronicle of your recent bike trip in the Netherlands has inspired me to visit this beautiful country once again. Can anyone recommend a bike shop in Amsterdam that rents e-bikes for a two week trip?
ОтветитьLaziness
ОтветитьCycling in the UK is a major nightmare cars driver will try kill ubon ever level that's going .. and the complain that's cyclist are not welcome on the roads at ain the uk..
ОтветитьGlad you like the granny bikes! For $3500 US, that’s a really steep price for 1/3 of a horsepower…I know 250 watts is the law, and maybe if you are on flatland, it’s helpful, but I can’t justify the price. Looks like fun :)
ОтветитьCowboy is a Belgian brand, not Dutch. But true, the Netherlands is a top country for traveling by bike.

ОтветитьI'm not a big fan of the ebikes everywhere, and that's largely due to how people are riding them.
Any sense of patience is gone, people just want to go full speed everywhere. And let's not even start about the little kids on them..
The amount of times I nearly get run over when trying to cross a zebra crossing has gone way up with all the ebikes, a lot of them just don't give a fuck.
It reminds me of the bike shop in bourn mass just pushes you out and just says go have fun which I’m gonna buy my next bike the basalt mok wheel st but u have to pay for an hour test ride but I say it’s worth 26 dollars for an hour test drive
ОтветитьVery nice video! Looks like helmets are not required. Didn’t see one person wearing one. Am also concerned about bike over crowding or bike congestion in the urban areas—constantly having to watch out for other cyclists. To me, that kind of cycling environment would seem pretty stressful almost like driving a car. Great footage! I am concerned that encouraging folks to ride a two wheeler will reduce the level of enjoyment of cycling and end up mimicking the same frustrations motorists experience. More bikes equals more irritation and more cash for the cycling industry. Where will the growth of this industry end?
ОтветитьI have an e-bike love it the only problem is the weather especially the rain. An e-bike encourages you out and excellent exercise
ОтветитьIsn't bike theft so common it's basically inevitable in The Netherlands? I would be very wary about using an expensive e-bike there. Especially because it's so flat that electric power is more of a luxury than a necessity.
ОтветитьNOT POPULAR

ОтветитьMelbourne🇦🇺has sooo much to learn here. And not a TdF wanna be anywhere. How refreshing✌️
Ответить'That is becoming one of the most popular in the Netherlands... among yuppies'
ОтветитьThat bike parking garage looks so cool!
ОтветитьBelgian brand
ОтветитьI lived and worked in the Netherlands in ‘91/‘92… day one I got a bike off a guy at the Central Station for 10 guilders. 😉🚲
ОтветитьBut those ‘sexy’ e-bikes are most of the time made of cheap parts. They really like to have this high end look. But if you compare it to the established brands the ‘sexy’ e-bikes are sort of disposable e-bikes
ОтветитьI’ve just completed a 2000km bike-packing trip from Amsterdam to the south of France. The infrastructure for biking is by far the best in the Netherlands compared to Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and France. Although, I must say biking through Paris is also pleasant these days as pretty good infrastructure is in place too.
ОтветитьExcellent VLOG
ОтветитьThe bike you are featuring is not a good example for a practical bike. It's built with mostly proprietary parts you can't easily replace with parts available at regular bike shops, especially the electronics. It is sold direct to consumer online only, three of such companies open every week, two of them are out of business the next week. A recent famous example has been the brand Vanmoof whose products look very similar and which went broke because its whimsical service infrastructure could not handle servicing the crappy proprietary components that so frequently failed.
ОтветитьE bikes and Cars are Shit
ОтветитьAll bikes used on public roads should require a license, registration and insurance.
ОтветитьDo you think you'd ever come to Ireland for one of these sorts of videos?
We only have two cities where cycling is actually viable, but one of those cities (Limerick) is making seriously good progress, and i feel it's not talked about enough, its still in transition so there are definitely still bad places, but on the southside and our biggest suburbs, its fantastic... its mainly just the northside and city centre that needs to be worked on, but there's already many upcoming projects to do so
A great video!
ОтветитьThis was a great series of videos. Have you ever gone cycling in the Alps? I think it’s possible, not as easy as the Netherlands, but the views and scenery would be spectacular
ОтветитьFagbike
ОтветитьIt's should also be noted that between January and June it only rained twice. FIrst time from January to April, and second time from May till end of June. But you had some great days definitely.
ОтветитьNot better at all: initial "male" ebike shown has a pointless cross-bar so you have to keep lifting your leg over, can't fold the bike, there's no rear rack, poor or zero suspension etc etc - and you can be sure that they're far more expensive than the many great folding 20-inch wheel ebikes that sell for circa 700 euros..
Dutch and Scandavians seem to love their big-wheeled bicycles and spurn folding bikes...

always pass the dutch E-bike on the Left hand side
ОтветитьYour last point is the strongest: that cutting down on traffic took work , tenacity and time.
ОтветитьIt’s flat! Why do they need electric power?
ОтветитьSo jealous, thanks for pointing out the lack of stop signs too, that's a small detail, but very important for the flow of traffic.
ОтветитьNice bikes, sell us and we'll buy.
