I agree 100% with you that the Sony was THE best made TV in the industry in the 80's. They made everything from handheld TV's to the big guys. I owned a couple myself in the 80's and they undoubtedly had the best color picture in the industry - not only sharp pictures but the colors were beyond reproach. They were also very dependable TV's with a good long life. Good luck with your sale - it should make someone very happy!
ОтветитьIt's nice that you're one of those guys who realizes that the original retail price isn't what something is worth in this day and age.
ОтветитьBeautiful indeed! I have a 1988 27" Sony Trinitron that was passed down to me. My uncle said they paid $900 for it new and it works perfectly - outstanding picture quality. You'll see it in some of my videos. Just moved into my house so I'm gonna use it for a while until I get the new Sony Bravia HD LCD. What do you think of the new Sony Bravia? I thought I'd get the Sony because this Trinitron one lasted so long...
ОтветитьVery nice! I have never seen one before. Great picture!
Ответитьcould a digital tuner be put into the tv somehow
ОтветитьNice video. I just happened upon an identical unit. Do you mind me asking how much you sold yours for? I think I'll put mine on eBay in a few days. These little sets have remarkably good picture.
ОтветитьI have three of these sets and they ALL have issues with the tactile push button switches which as you accurately state are the Achilles Heel of an otherwise great television. I have been trying to get replacements. There is an old post on Video Kharma by Jonathan that states the perfect replacement is the Alps tactile switch SKHVBJD010 6.0x6.0x9.5mm 260gf The problem is locating these or a suitable replacement. Any ideas would be welcome. These Sony KV 4000 television sets were cutting edge at the time and these pesky little switches are keeping mine from being perfect. Thanks very much.
ОтветитьFrom nearly the same time, a SONY that boasted "World's Smallest Trinitron", Plastic case not metal. Rounded contours not blocky. $250 1980 dollars. Seen for sale in a MA Convenience/Drug Store. I've been Googling for years and nothing. It's as if the past has been altered for it to have ceased having once existed. I'd hunt it down had I won that $500M MegaMillions.
ОтветитьAnd it looks like it had a flat crt screen in or rather then being curved.
ОтветитьIs it for sale yet, or did you sell it. 😄
ОтветитьNot that really portible the shrinking technology wasn’t there yet but company’s just tryed hard to make those tv’s portible, despites being still clumsy and heavy to care it around or to use it, but it does have it’s appealing.
ОтветитьVery beautiful tv👍👍
ОтветитьIts a long boi
Ответитьthese are very very well made. everyone knew the sony tvs back then were high quality. i currently accuired a sony kv4100. ive yet to see one with a bad or weak crt, these were a luxury or novelty, they just were not played much, thus greatly extending the life of a crt. i plan to buy a sony kv4000, if i dont get the kv4100 working, i will use the 4100 as a spare parts source.
ОтветитьMy Friend, I also don't have Sony AC 123w adapter. But I have a bettery adapter. WHICH BETTERY YOU USED. HOPEFULLY YOU STILL HERE.
ОтветитьBought one of these few months back and finally found a KV-4100 with the built in micro cassette deck and its on its way now 👍🏼
ОтветитьJust bought one locally in Canada, original carrying case, battery, cord, manual and original cardboard box. From the original owner. $200 CAD in 2025. Super cool vintage SONY piece.
