2023 Prairie Dirt Classic- "Curtain Call"

2023 gave us two large story lines in the dirt late model industry. Ricky Thornton Jr. was setting the world on fire in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and looking to add another crown jewel to his list of victories. Bobby Pierce, on the other hand, was dominating the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, and definitely looking to finally put a check mark in his “PDC” box that had been eluding him for so many years now. And what better place for the two worlds to collide than the 33rd Annual Prairie Dirt Classic presented by the Illinois State Rifle Association and Bank of Pontiac?!

As always, I’d like to thank Matt Curl and his entire staff at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway for always giving me what I need to make these videos a success. I also need to thank Michael Rigsby with DirtonDirt and FloRacing for all of his help and guidance throughout the years. This video would not have been possible without Nate Coughlin helping me shoot video. It’s always a pleasure working with him! Last but definitely not least I’d like to thank my beautiful wife Julie who makes countless sacrifices to allow me to put in the immense amount of work necessary to put these things together. She also is a huge help behind the scenes, especially when I accidentally leave a video track hidden before I render the video and upload it to YouTube and don’t notice the mistake until the absolute last second possible…lol

This video is dedicated to our late friend, Doug Aaron. Doug was a huge supporter of Racing411 and was an inspiration for a few of the videos we have done in the past. I have always been a huge history fanatic and Doug never passed at an opportunity to talk about the glory days when our paths crossed in the pits. There aren’t very many people that loved FALS more than Doug, and he will truly be missed.

As you could probably imagine from the title of this video, it will be my last full length recap edit of the PDC. The amount of time it requires to put together to the standards that I have set for myself over the years has WELL outweighed the amount of time I'm able to give it anymore. You'll still see me with a camera in my hands for the PDC, but the focus will now be on shorter "Hype Reel" style of videos going forward.
