I’ve watched probably 100 of your vids and this might be my favorite. Haha

Obviously I'm 3 years too late on this video, but I'll comment anyway! Shawn, I tend to gravitate towards your list (Dan, you have too many hard-to-find bottles on yours!). If I were to make a list of 5 Ryes, this would be mine:
- Old Forester Rye
- Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Rye
- Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye Single Barrel
- Sagamore 8 Year Rye
- Any Sagamore Finished Rye (Manhattan Finish, Armagnac Finish, Rum Cask Finish, Double Oaked, etc.)

No categories, all affordable. (I don't make enough cocktails to buy a cheap mixer - I'll just mix the good stuff if I want an Old Fashioned...or just drink a Sagamore finished rye.)

Sazerac is a great go to!

Daily-Michters rye
Mixer- WT 101
Impress- Michters toasted
Friday- whistlepig 12
Special occasions-Kentucky owl 3

Daily drinker: Redwood Empire Emerald Giant or Michter's Rye
Cheap mixer: Rittenhouse BiB or Old Overholt BiB
To impress: Lock Stock & Barrel Vatted (the juice is great and the black bottle is impressive looking)
Friday night pour: JD SBBP Rye (now that it's out)
Special occasion: Michter's barrel strength rye or Old Carter batch 11 (PH 10 yr Rye, if you could get it)

Old forester is great ESPECIALLY at 25 a bottle. Maybe 40 -50 maybe a touch better but you can buy 2 old foresters for double fun

Here in utah a majority of the craft cocktail bars use double rye as their cocktail base. Definitely agree with that choice

Good info! I was looking for a Rye intro. I got a sample bottle of Red Eye coffee infused Rye (didn't notice the fine-print about the coffee, but it was $0.98, so I'm OK with it) ... but I doubt that I'm actuality tasting any Rye.
Tip: if whiskey is coming out of a crack, then there is likely "some" glass inside as well. Maybe cheesecloth the transfer? 😉
