I really like the look of the 40XXH, but I already own a 35XX+ and 405M, so don't have a need for it, so will be passing until they start bumping the specs again.
ОтветитьI still do it today buying games and not playing them when there on offer. But my worst example of this is when I brought Metal Gear Solid 4 physical when it just come out for my ps3!! To this day I still haven't played it and I still have that original copy that I brought that day 😬🫣
ОтветитьIn my case, regarding steam, some games I have, I played them before I purchased. This was just to own them digitally.
Ответитьkinda interested. I just got my first retro handheld (miyoo mini+) a few weeks back. mainly dig the look and everyone raved about onionOS but I find it a little cramped for me and I think a horizontal device should be next on my list. would be better for long sessions and games where I need to use shoulder buttons a lot. Not ready to spend RG Cube/556 money yet but a 4" screen at a H700 price point... I can be tempted.
ОтветитьIm still waiting for my RG cube but im excited to see that Gamma OS will be coming soon.
ОтветитьWhere’s our RG406M/P?? I just want a more powerful RG405M in plastic
ОтветитьI will definitely buy the RG40XX-H and I already know that I will probably never play games on it outside of testing. I have 11 Retro game consoles in total and spent a lot of time setting them up and dialing in all the settings I like. Then I update them all every month or so. There is simply no time left actually playing games 😂
ОтветитьThe only thing the RG40XX got going for itself is that screen in a plastic shell. Well, besides the fact that it would be very affordable. PS1 will be absolutely awesome on it. Come on, Retroid give us a Pocket with the exact same form factor as the 2s with a 4" screen, and the community will love you even more.
ОтветитьI am guilty of buying many steam games and have yet to play them. I have at least 5 in my library
ОтветитьI'm definitely curious about the 40xx. The form factor looks nice and the screen size would probably be a decent upgrade over the 35xx devices.
ОтветитьRG40XX H is incredibly tempting to me. My Miyoo Mini Plus is just barely too small for my eyes, so the extra half inch would be a nice upgrade. Unfortunately, from what I've seen, the RG40XX H might have really loud shoulder buttons, which makes me a bit concerned. I also wish they went with something a bit more powerful than H700 (maybe some cheap chipset with A73 cores?) and 2 gigs of RAM to ensure ports play nicely. I've been eye-ing the TrimUI Smart Pro, but the sticks seem to be kinda crappy, and PSP performance seems to be lackluster.
ОтветитьDamn, I want an RG450 successor 😩
ОтветитьAmbern will do everything but finally upgrade the 405M. The 405M is the best device they have ever made. There’s no reason to have a 16 x 9 screen on these handhelds as just about everything you’re going to play was made with 4 x 3 in mind. I just can’t stand having the black space on the side of my games on something like the Retroid pocket 4. Here’s hoping they finally upgrade the 405M soon. And hopefully this time they will have a plastic version. If I’m being really greedy, I would love to see a 4 inch 720 P screen this time too.
ОтветитьAt this point, my thought process for new devices goes like "what does this have that is worth paying for that i can't already get on my MM+ or RGB30?" I love both of those devices a lot, and if a new device doesn't bring anything new to the table, it's a lot easier for me to ignore it. So, while the RG40XX H looks pretty cute, in the same way that the RG Cube does, i don't really think it's going to be much worth it for me in the end. 🤷♀
Ответитьgreat content as always bro
Ответитьdoes the new anbernic device not look like it was clearly targeted for the trim ui smart?
ОтветитьSo Gamma fixed the cube’s software before you even got one with a fixed screen 😂 What a legend
ОтветитьAnbernic should've pulled their finger out and fixed the thumbstick issue themselves. They 100% lost a sale in me. I was 90% ready to pull the trigger on a RG556 last week but the thumbstick problem was too much of a show stopper for me. As it turns out, the Steam Deck went on sale a few days ago and that's what I spent my money on instead. I'm glad owners of the 556 and Cube have a solution now, but Anbernic massively dropped the ball on this.
ОтветитьI think we need to talk more about anbernic stealing trimui's design. It doesn't just "resemble" the trimui smart pro it's a derivative design. Anbernic wants to be taken seriously in countries that actually have copyright and IP laws but continues to take shortcuts with other people's work
ОтветитьI'm not interested in the RG40XXH just because something at that power level needs to be totally pocketable and that's just a little too big for that.
ОтветитьYeah my ps4 is full of games I’ve not even touched, I’ve not created a steam account, mostly because I’m not ready to do it again on a different platform, that and anbernic is really not letting me, hell I’m still due a retro pocket 4 pro and a ayn odin 2.
ОтветитьI like the RG40XXH. It looks good, I like the screen size, and the H700 gives it access to a lot of custom firmware options. I'm with you though that for a few dollars more than launch pricing I'd rather buy the Pocket 2S. Once the RG40-letters goes on sale then it might be worth picking up; but its projected launch pricing seems kind of steep for what you're getting, IMO. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm missing the point of the device. It wouldn't be the first time.
Thanks for the shout-out.
Thanks for the news as always 🙂
ОтветитьLooking for help with the refried beans. I downloaded the zip (on my Mac), but it’s giving an error when I try to unzip. Thoughts?
ОтветитьI got the RP2S on your recommendation and I have never looked back. I just play a lot of Pokémon, Final Fantasy, and pinball games. I use my 2S for games with save states and I have the RG35XXSP for hardcore achievements. I would love an Odin 2, but other than that, I consider my handhelds to be the best available and I think they would have to do something drastic to make me upgrade.
ОтветитьDoes that gamma update fix the stick issues on the 405v?
ОтветитьRemember the flash sale pricing the Steam sales used to have? I own Stacking the Matryoshka stacking doll game.
Ответитьyea i have alot of games that ive bought for cheap and never played maybe 30 games+
ОтветитьSo fun fact, for those who keep bringing up that the video of RG40XXH has tea spilled everywhere, if it's a traditional Chinese tea shop I do believe that little bird looking thing on the tray is what's called a tea pet and it's customary to pour the first steep of the tea on top of it. Why they decided to put a bunch of electronics around that are I won't understand though
ОтветитьJust completed my collection of the 35xx line up. I’m not that thrilled with the 40xx. Maybe I’m in the minority. I guess I’m liking the 35’s very much or wished the 40xx had better specs. Perhaps I’ll wait and see if they release something like the S2 where I could play some basic ps2 at least. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure the 40xx will sell well and the bigger screen is a plus. But how fast Anbernic is releasing devices, I can’t keep up. Perhaps will wait til the holidays to see what they’ll offer for us then. 😁
ОтветитьI’m getting it because well some people collect Pokémon. I collect retro handhelds. I guess i gotta get them all.
ОтветитьI certainly want the ANBERNIC RG40XXH with the stock firmware! I plan to install two 1.5TB Sandisk micro sd cards into mine. The RG40XXH is the handheld I've always wanted and it would most likely be my favorite landscape handheld.
ОтветитьIf Anbernic took the exact button layout of the RG40XX H but used the specs of the 556 and then used the 3 : 2 screen from the KTR1. That would be their best handheld!!!!
ОтветитьI think they should have gone with a 960x720 pixel screen and used the chipset from the 405M on the 40XX H
ОтветитьOn the 40xx Im interested in a bigger screen but im not sure if half an inch is bigger enough
ОтветитьI'm one of those who held off on the RG35XX, H and SP because the screen is a bit small (compared to my one and only handheld the RGB30). The RG40XX has my attention but it's not a must-buy for me.
ОтветитьThe RG40XX-H will be a great seller when it drops below $55, as we all know it will since it's just an H700 proc. And lets face it, that's less than half of the true price of an RP2S after adding the fake shipping costs ($115 total + tax). So if twice-the-price is "just a few dollars more" then the real value is in the $125 RG505 or $140 RP3+ which both have a proper 16:9 screen for PSP and widescreen hacks in Dreamcast, GameCube and PS2. Not to mention better upscaling or framerates than the RP2S. So in light of the alternatives, I can't think of any plastic emulator with 3.5" screen today that's worth over $100 delivered.
ОтветитьLove that more Linux devices are coming out. If I could change anything from the RG40XX H it would have to be for it to come with an Oled screen and front firing speakers. I was going to add bigger face buttons however they do look a bit bigger then past devices.
ОтветитьI love my Trim UI Smart Pro and that device continues to improve. But I’d love the 40XX-H for SNES games.
ОтветитьI agree with you on the pronounciation of "Huawei"😅
ОтветитьI like the shape just specualting but think i would prefer it over the box shape of the 35xxH.
ОтветитьI hear you on the steam game sales, was tempted to buy some this mornin gwhen i looked at what was available. I have managed to hold back a little on those as i have a whole library of games that i got for free on Epic that i haven't played
ОтветитьI DO NOT need a RG40XX AT ALL. and yet....I'm going to buy one
ОтветитьYeah I'm gonna hold off on that. I'm still loving my RP2SM :D
ОтветитьIm interested in the 40xx-h. I wanted a more budget friendly 4" 4:3 device that had a stick(the arc was nice but its lack of a stick made a lot of the things it can do pointless and i dont like that). So yeah, im looking forward to see how it turns out. If its good and priced rightly, i will probably get one.
ОтветитьThe Retroid Pocket 2S is more than twice as expensive for Europeans. Anbernic ran a sale some days ago on AliExpress, putting the RG35XX H just below €50 (taxes and shipping included). But there are enough other sellers offering the H at €60 or less. A RP2S on AliExpress doesn't sell below €170, and costs ~€110 from the official Retroid website (shipping included). You then have to hope customs doesn't slap you with another 20-25% VAT fee.
For that money, I'd rather get a device that has a bigger and better screen than the RP2S. Besides, I'm more than happy with Linux (muOS) over having to tinker with Android. So, I'm "in the market" for the RG40XX H when it comes out, and will then give my RG35XX H to my girlfriend. The 3.5 inch version is a just bit too cramped for my hands. Also, I hate that function button on the top and want to have it on the front.
Given the price of Steam sale games, you could probably generate a larger "shocking" amount of money from people who have bought books they haven't read.
ОтветитьIf you want something portable that plays up to psp and has analogs + CFW in progress, go RG35XX H, If you want a bigger screen with teh same capabilities, get The TRIMUI SMART PRO, that has almost 5inch screen and 5000 mah battery. If you think that the RG40 is your sweetspot ... good luck. I also had over 9 consoles and only staying with the miyoo mini plus and a modded X55 with 8000 battery :P
