compares entry level MBA to Dell Xps

Test the PC unplugged. That is how most of the people will use it. You always show how good the performance on the PC is which is always plugged in. Why don't you benchmark the Macbook air which is unplugged with a top level desktop and to reach a conclusion that the Mac is so slow compared to the PC. Even though plugged or not, the Macbook has the same performance, that is not the issue. The issue is that the PC unplugged has super crappy performance. And that is what you need to show. Stop misleading the people. Also, when you compare the two laptops, use as close as possible configuration (same amount of RAM, same amount of SSD). Otherwise your tests are super flawed.

Very subjective review leaning towards CrApple. Do yourselves a favour and don't waste 15 minutes of your time watching this. Search for another more objective review

That's is what i don't understand. When benchmarks, render, and all that test stuff, Macbook is the worst. But when reality, Macbook is faster. How is that possible?

it feels more like dell sposored vid lmao just because when macbook beats xps in certain things he says not of a big difference but when xps does opposite he says thats impressive when legit its 1000$ extra from it compare with macbook m2 pro 14 even then xps will be exp but gets crushed by pro lol and plus whats the point of comparision lol laptops are supposed to be portable but you have to be near wall for like every windows laptop to run at full power while as macbooks aint need a wall for hours straight and for this specific one it can last for a day or 2? for normal usage plus its fanless

Sorry but it doesn't make sense to compare the xps with the mac book air (different price ranges and processor types etc.). Comapring it with the mac book pro makes more sense.

I wish that you compared configurations that were closer in price range, @maxtech. You can easily get both of these systems within 100$ of each-other for a more apples to apples comparison, pun intended. You are straight up misleading people when you say one system is more expensive than the other.

The dell design is pretty slick id say! Gotta get the price down to make it more appealing though.

I had twice Dell XPS, sometime 10-12 years ago. I deeply and very painfully regretted both time. I had maybe another 7-10 Dell machines, work and personal servers. Mediocre machines, not matter what line you buy. Every single test done on my Dell XPS outperformed all other machines, yet I had driver issues, blue screens, software not working, freezings, etc. At the same time, just for fun I bought an iMac for Christmas, the first Apple machine in my life. Since then I bought only Apple machines, not only for me, but for the entire family. Apple macs just run smooth, the look and feel, especially the monitors are second to none. The only thing I can argue about Macs, they last f. forever, no reason to buy another one. I still have in use my first Mac I bought 10 years ago, and this one I'm typing with, it is 5 years old and is being used for data science. Flowless!
PS: iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) - not planning to change this anytime soon.

I went from Intel 2020 MacBook Air and went straight to the M2 MacBook Air 15 inch with 24GB Ram and 256 SSD storage and its a definite powerhouse! Especially with the educational discount!

Something that apple users never seem to mention is that the dell xps has a touchscreen; imagine an ipad with a desktop os. I have both xps and mac m1. The xps is definitely faster overall, and feels quicker; however things like bluetoth disconnects, etc, are annoying. The xps display is also amazing. Windows 11 is a more productive platfrom, and seems to managge memory better than the mac (which hides leeks in swap). The Mac has final cut pro, and superior power usage, and somehow more enjoyable.

Next year when meteor lake is released, with half of the power requirement, and probably matching or beeting the m3 max in performance, things get interesting. Of course for most users, all of this is overkill.

Dell Xps - Will not touch it till wifi 6e fully supported.

I really wanted to buy the MBA 15" BUT the SSD welded at the motherboard and no upgradable RAM is a big NO, it's a great laptop, but I can't buy something like that.

Lack of power efficiency, higher price of dell XPS is making the MBA much more balanced and interesting machine, in my opinion.
Not to mention 50% of RTX4070 graphics performance is still very honorable score especially on a passive laptop.
To be complete, would have been interesting to address noise due to spinning fan on XPS, and throttling impact of MBA in gaming session.

I got my dell xps two years ago and I regret it so much, I can't stand the fans going on most of the time, drives me crazy. I tried lots of things to solve this issue but seems this is the normal way these laptops behave.

The problem with comparision is, the difference in memory. The question I have, was the MBA swapping while the Dell didn't need to because is 2x the amount of memory???

You should compare using same browser. It isn't fair used different browser to benchmark in speedometer. You could use safari during compare two MacBook and not between Windows laptop and MacBook.

Your price comparison is misleading. Getting 1tb for the mac is like a $400 upgrade. Add 32 gigs and things fall apart..

Meanwhile I am still using my MacBook Pro 15 2019…reason is…Canada is really cold…and with the i9…I save a huge amount of money without having to pay for a heater.

I ended up returning my 15 inch air, it felt slower than a $600 Inspiron I was coming from for a lot of tasks. But the screen and hardware were great, I just couldn't deal with the slowness. Interesting that it does well on heavier tasks

Why did you compare the price of a 32gb laptop and a 16gb laptop? If the Apple Laptop even had 32GB as an option it would be priced more.

These comparisons are entertaining but useless. People don't choose a MacBook over an of the PC variant because of hardware specs - they choose a Mac for macOS instead of Windows. It's just like comparing the "hardware specs" of a Tesla to a Kenworth.
