I had this job done on my Is300 recently. My mechanic did both sides in an hour. Crazy to think the stealership would say it takes that long.

So I'm a bit confused why you have to use the crescent wrench to break the control arm out - is it because you don't have another jack to use on the control arm? Or just because you didn't want to drop the suspension brace the whole way?

I was planning on using my two jacks, one under each hub to take tension off the arm, drop the two suspension brace plates, and the arms should come right out? Tackling job this weekend, weather pending.

I want to do my LCA complete front end lower, i have ordered all the parts a few months back, Just not sure if this is something i want to do myself, i have all the tools, but dont enjoy working on the floor... HAHAHA... what do you think would be a reasonable amount of hours a shop should charge, hour and $. For $200, i'll have someone else do it, but if it cost around $300-$500, I may just do it myself. Any Thoughts???

I replaced bushings 2 yrs ago on the arms and I noticed some of the rubber popping out the top, I get a creaking/cracking sound when I accelerate the car from a stopped position both forward and in reverse, basically when load put on the car. I have not been able to diagnose the problem as of yet. Any help appreciated. (Replaced ball joint, re torqued caliper bolts etc) Thnks!

I love your videos! Do you recommend OEM parts for controls arms on these GS or can I go aftermarket?

Poor 1a Auto Video, Most of your Videos are good, First Couldn't see as in DARK, 2nd Took Plates off without Showing any of this part which is 1/2 the Video Like showing a swap engine video
And he takes the air cleaner off with New engine on Pallet on Floor, Then he Puts air cleaner back on with new engine in Car already installed but not shown! A really lousy Video. Also, the Mercedes dig wasn't needed an old and weak man as you called yourself! My Twin Turbo Lexus from Japan would eat any stock Factory Mercedes as would My Nissan GT r! One last thing if Lexus wanted $500 Mercedes would want $2000!
1A Auto You should Redo Video, Watch the Japan Video on Doing This!

Do you need to get an alignment and wheel balance done after doing this job?

I just replaced both my inner and outer tie rods and both ball joint and both upper control arms and both lower control arms and calipers rotors and pads and I'm still hearing this popping clunking noise every time I hit the brakes to slow on both sides the caster arm and sway bar links and struts are the only thing I haven't changed yet but I was thinking this got to be it the caster arm

I hear a loud creaking obviously from my front drivers side wheel, mostly when turning at low speeds or on a slow bumpy road. You think that’s a coilover thing or something else with the suspension?

Thank you. Lining up those two bolts on the bottom proved tricky. I'll try your technique with adjustable spanner.

This all wrong! All you need to do is remove the three brace bar bolts, the center #2 caster arm bolt, the 2 bolts connected to the #1 lca, lift the spindle with a jack to remove the #2 arm, replace all bolts. In just 5-15 minutes

For those having a hard time to align the caster arm to lower control arm, just use the car’s Jack to lift up the spindle and see until it matches together. From there just tighten the bolts and let the Jack go.

Your saved me a lot of time sir! That cresent wrench trick is all you need and just let the whole wheel hub hanging and push the the wheel hub to aline the bolts and be careful not to strip the bolts, that worked for me 🎉
