I’m torn on sonic R because the controls are unexplainably awful there’s only 5 tracks in the game and there’s basically nothing to the game




But there’s such a charm about Sonic R the music while not fitting in a racing game at all is amazing the game looks good for late 90s standards and the tracks are distinct from each other

If i remember correctly the Early title screen was replaced because it spoiled Metal Sonic as an unlockable character

The only thing wrong with Sonic R is that it's too short.

Crazy how there's no Sonic R 2

We are done with the classic games and I’m hoping for the modern games to come next
All I can tell u is that sonic adventure has a bigger development history than sonic 2

this is my favorite sonic game

One cool use that the Fire Shield could've had would be that it could activate unique traps through the course. Y'know, burn wooden bridges so that characters could accidentally fall into the water, or light puddles of oil on fire. Maybe even break some wooden doors or crates blocking short cuts, stuff like that.

What a fun playlist to go through, it took me right down memory lane with all these classic Sonic games! Well done BitGaming 👍

it would be very cool if they made sonic R 2, which is on newer hardware and actually fixed many of sonic R's slip ups and ofc, unlike other sonic racing games, actually has characters not in cars (except Amy Rose and Dr. Robotnik for obvious reasons)

It's a shame that travellers Tales never made a mainline Sonic game on the Saturn. I get one would taker longer to develop than this, and it would require gameplay similar to that seen in Sonic Jam. But even a short game would have been interesting. Sonic R looks closer to a full 3D Sonic game than the ridged None Boss Engine section of Sonic X-Treme.

Its fun to just ignore the race in this game and explore the worlds, theres a surprising amount of secrets

I remember playing this at a friends house. He is still the only one i ever knew who owned a saturn. He had this, echo the dolphin and nights. Well those are the ones i remember. I just remember this game being horrible and neither of us could stay on the track for more than a few seconds lol
