Couldn't agree more. I am a low-ELO player and I climbed with Romans and Mongols quite a lot. Romans are now my favorite go-to civ in maps that are a bit more closed.

Hi Hera. One question. What would you do as Goths vs Romans? (Historical match up btw). As you said creating Champion against Legionary is feeding elo in silver platter. So what should Goths do?

In your last tier list you hammered Bengalis and then picked them as one of your civs in a tournament. Are you holding back to not give away a competitive advantage?

Malians are really strong like them to plus get arson don't forget about that

I've been wanting to try Sicilians and Romans ever since the update came out, infantry always seemed fun but difficult. Is there a chance of a guide on how to play infantry/infantry civs for the (probably many including me) beginners/intermediates who only know scout/archer openings?

ideas:
1 bonus damage moved from base stats to Arson
1 bonus damage vs. infantry given to towers and TCs

I couldn't agree more. As a 1100 ELO everytime I face Romans it's like "Damn, not again! There go my 'puntos'!". I know what's coming but I'm unable to stop it. Their pressure is SO overwhelming

the only answer to romans I can find is byzantines, catas are good dealing with infantry and siege since they are cav units, trash units are cheaper so you can add some camels to counter centurions and there's not much they can do, surviving feudal will be the key to win, after that and getting 1 or 2 castles you should win by spamming catas, camels then in imperial age add bombard cannons

Really want to try Romans out, I'll try to pick the DLC if there is a sale anytime soon

Watching this after winning a match with Roman MAAs. Never needed to add in scorpions and rams, just upgraded the MAAs (to longswords with squires and +4/4 armor, and add attack upgrades when you can afford them - will help to tear down those buildings). Opponent basically gg'd once I got to castle age, so the upgrades didn't actually come in. No need for arson either: I was still tearing down buildings in Feudal age (including the defensive Donjon), though I did get forging.

And Legionarires did get the movement speed and cost buffs, so they are still better than they were, even if they didn't get an attack buff.

So it's not "pay to win always", just "pay to win more often".

Hi, what do you honestly thing about Celts? I'm just an inexperienced, casual player, and I've only ever played with Celts, be I can't manage to defeat the hard AI. I've seen videos criticizing Celts and others saying it's way better after the most recent patch, but I don't know if I should change civs now if just keep on trying with Celts.

Because the MAA rush is a little tricky to pull off, I think the best way for low ELO players to play Romans is actually to play archers or scouts in feudal, but then do a full switch to longswords on your way to castle age. Catches your opponent off guard and works like every time

Can confirm Romans wreck in my lower elo matches (900-1000). That def makes their MAA rush very tough and adding scorpions in Castle is often the last nail in the coffin against folks

As a beginer player I play goth and spam spiker and huskarl. Sometimes with few man at arm at feudal. I haven't seen their weakness yet 😂 but I know it is not a top tier civ

Romans were very strong in low elo before the infantry patch then devs decide to buff them even more.

What about the Armenians Long Sword feudal rush? I found that destroying key buildings and just moving around the opponents base causes havoc

Hi hera can you make some saracens clips there is hardly anything worth watching on here.

The only problem is that the men at arm build order is actually very hard to pull off especially in lower elo! This alone might be the reason why they dont have a super high win rate in lower elo now

Man ive been using mostly only romans for like the last month. Get to castle as fast as i can. Then 2 barracks and make like 3 rams then hop in and out of the rams. Super hard to stop on arena team games as long as your pocket plays with you

I'll pick it up and then it will get nerfed, so prob not worth getting. All of the recommended climbing civs end up getting hit with the bat. Franks become meh and Georgians in low elo are completely dead now. I'm expecting the same thing to happen to Romans.

I just tried Romans on nomad its insane. in castle age with longswords you destroy everything, and the eco is flying, i went with 2 tc longsword and even with archers he had no chance. Thx for the Elo Hera
