I wasn't sure about riding Hex at first, but after we did it I'm glad my Dad encouraged me. Alton Towers is the Best

I love the idea of VR roller coasters, but they got to find a way to put the headsets on before you board the train. Maybe even have the whole station be a VR area so the riders just walk in and out of the car with the headset on.

I would ride galactica without vr to experience the old air rollercoaster

I dont like the vr tbh, it doesn't add any fun to the ride. I couldn't move my head so wtf is the point in a headset?

The problem is they use the Samsung VR, that’s not going to give riders a good VR experience

As I understand it, air was originally supposed to open with much stronger themeing back in 2002 but this had to dropped before opening to save money.

VR sucks. Some rides have good VR and some have really trash ones. The major problem with VR is the wait times become to damn long. Kraken at sea world got VR and was renamed to Kraken Unleashed and now the lines that usually were 20 to 50 min waits are now 60 to 100 min waits. Plus they only run two trains which makes it even worse.

I would say from my personal opinion it a bad idea. I get dreadfully sick when I look at 3D stuff and am glad at the moment it a choice but people decide to get things into it being just part of the ride and something you can’t avoid. It not thinking of the wider picture in my view xx

With the reversion of Revolution to no-VR, I think Rollercoaster VR is just a fad

BEST RIDE, especially with VR

I don't like the vr version of air. It made me feel sick and not in a good way, just headache and sick like how I feel when I play first person video games

The VR wasn't bad, however the frame rate was really low so it wasn't very immersive

I have mixed feelings about VR on roller coasters. At least for me, VR that has been done well really enhances the experience of the ride. Not just being transported to a different world in a way that is difficult if not impossible to do with traditional theming, but also being able to see where you are going now (like on a traditional roller coaster) but not being able to see where you're about to go (like on an enclosed, dark roller coaster). However, I definitely agree that the lower throughput is a big problem. Perhaps some balance like VR every other day during fall and spring and Tuesdays in the summer? Then the people who love VR can still experience it while people who don't can plan their visit on a day when it's not running.

Would be better with a pretzel loop.

I have done one rollercoaster with VR (Iron Dragon at Cedar Point) and it was completely nauseating. I never get sick on rollercoasters, so I was surprised. Needless to say, I have no interest in doing one again. It also makes it impossible to ride coasters because it doubles and triples wait time (Dare Devil Dive at Six Flags Over Georgia for example).

this roller coaster is partially VR with the front 4 rows without VR and the rear 3 rows with VR

My family and I once trekked up to Alton Towers for a weekend away during Easter and Galactica was closed for maintenance. I wanted to ride that coaster so bad :(

VR on this ride is terrible, the screen was just a blur and looked like it had some liquid all over it... I swear using my phone in a vr cardboard was better than this crap.

As of 2019, the VR has been removed (everyone knows this), but i don’t know if the VR pouches on the three back rows of the train haven’t been removed yet. If they haven’t been removed, we’ll have to queue up for 30 minutes-1 hour. I need to know this for the next time i go to AT. Have they been removed or not?

Well the VRs gone now, and I don't really think a space port really goes well with Forbidden Valleys theming. Id love them to rebrand it back to air, but add more theming around it. Though I like the portal, so if they do retheme it, hope they keep it.

Even though the VR is now gone, I would like to see them re-theme the ride for the reopening of Nemesis. They can re-theme it around the Phalanx building a second facility and to use advanced technology to create portals to different dimensions to find out were Nemesis came from and how it ended up being discovered in the area it was found. It would fit the ride more into Forbidden Valley but I wouldn’t be mad if they didn’t change the theme.
