Millionaire or not, we’ve all bloody well earned the pittance that is the £300 we are given, yes there are those that don’t really need it but if they have paid tax then it is their right to have it and do whatever the6 want with it. I’m a pensioner as is my husband, he is suffering prostate cancer and really feels the cold, we have our heating on most of the time, winter and summer if it’s a cold day,we are also have small private pensions that took us beyond the level which allowed people to get the allowance and we are fortunate enough that we can afford to pay our fuel bills but that comes at a cost to us where we don’t go out, we don’t drink, we don’t smoke and we spend very little on personal items ie. Clothes , shoes etc. we lead very boring lives but still have each other, where many don’t even have that, my heart goes out to those that are on their own and are still penalised by this government. For me they can stick their winter fuel allowance where the sun don’t shine ( literally ) 😮

The simple reason everybody got the payment was because it was easier to administrate the payment. Whereas if the payment has to be means test it, software has to be created to handle these new rules. As a software developer for the govt I can tell you for those that are unaware of the process involved, it is very costly and very, very expensive, and that’s if the software has been developed correctly in the first place.

He hasn’t said he would bring it back, he said we’ll see which pensioners are eligible! Did he just say the economy has improved? He’s the only person who thinks so.

I was sitting in my bungalow last winter in temperatures of 1 degree or lower, I can’t afford to put the heating on or use gas at all to even cook anything hot so I have eat sandwiches as I can’t afford too buy ready meals because they are too expensive for me to afford, I don’t qualify for pension credit as I am £10 over the limit so it looks like I will be spending next winter again freezing, role on my death at least I will be back with my wife and not have to go without and freeze

It should not be means tested. If you have contributed to this country by paying taxes and national insurance because you have worked all your life, you should get this allowance!! Why is it that you dont work or contribute to the country and get everything!!!
